Hi guys, my wife and I 3 year anniversary is coming up at the end of the month and I want to prepare a nice dinner in quarantine. Usually we’ll go feast at Texas de Brazil or Doe’s but those options are out the picture. Does anyone know of any restaurants with steak specials or does anyone recommend a place to get great steaks to cook at home? My go to for cooking steak is Alexander’s but I’m open to other options

Don't know where you live, but go to fresh market or whole foods, pick out what you want and cook at them at home? Maybe go pick up the side dishes you like from wherever if you don't want the hassle of cooking the whole meal.
Picking up (and paying retail) a steak to bring home and eat doesn't sound better than doing it myself.

Doe's is actually selling their steaks to-go for you to cook at home. Give them a call.

I’ve seen those cap steak in Costco and always wondered if they were any good. Might have to try it out.

I did this last week, except searing on grill, I seared on cooktop in grapeseed oil, crushed garlic, thyme and butter for about 1 minute on each side.
Delicious.

Hassel Cattle Company or 44 Farms. Both out of Texas and both will beat anything local adding here but they aren't quite SRF prices. And I'm an Iverstine fan.

Did pretty similar. Did 130 for 2 hours, then seared in a pan with butter, garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Was fantastic.

Thanks baw. I'll remember them for sure. I've never ordered anything from SRF, just seems like highway robbery.

Are y'all keeping them rolled when searing or laying them out?

If you aren't comfortable with trying to cook. I would recommend calling Fleming's. They have been doing some Steak Dinner for Two specials that include steaks, sides, dessert and a bottle of wine. They prep the steak and include reheat/finishing instructions. Then you warm the sides, pop the cork and go at it.

i keep them rolled. if they've been souv-vide'd they're going to be perfect anyway.
just burn the shite out of each side for like 1 minute and enjoy the best damn thing you ever put in your mouth.

Our 3 year anniversary is next week. We found a recipe from Massimo Bottura and are just going to cook together and drink some good wine. Why not get some good cuts and grill at home?
