D-day was the worst fighting in Europe.
No. Just no.

but after D-day it was easier then having to island hop the pacific.
Statements like that came when you learn your history from TV.

My Dad was in the Pacific and my Uncle was in Europe. My Uncle was around English, French, and, later, German girls. My Dad was on austere islands with tropical diseases and Japs.

Europe, easily.
My Grandfather was in Europe. His tour took him to dozens of countries. We have pictures of him tearing down Nazi flags.
Ironically, before he died, he was called a Nazi by the left.
Interesting times, for sure.

So who would you say committed the worst atrocity towards Americans?
We all know the Death March in the pacific? Who here has heard of the fricked up shite a nazi special unit did to us?

Well, I wondered how long it would take before you posted this. You hijacked a thread not to long ago with the same basic post. Couple of points:
1. The “Island Hopping Campaign” in the Pacific was D-Day island after island. Just to name a few, Peleliu, Saipan, Tarawa, the Philippines, and most certainly Iwo Jima.
2. You could surround a Rifle Squad (12-15) Japanese with a Battalion of Americans and they would fight to the death. Literally! The Germans, well, mass surrender, Stalingrad. The Battle of Falaise Pocket come to mind right off the bat. At Falaise, Germans were slaughtered in a full on “retreat”.

This thread got me thinking.
How bad was the Korean war compared to WWII or Vietnam?
Seems like it doesn't get much discussion. I had two great uncles that fought in Korea but they never talked about it around me.

"Give me a flamethrower": my uncle was on Okinawa & told my cousin this brief story as to why he refused, post war, to ever buy any Japanese product: he was on a patrol with 5 buddies, ambushed, & 3 buddies were wounded & unable to pull back. Returning the next day on a search & rescue mission, his patrol found the 3 tied to trees, & bayoneted to death, their genitals stuffed in the mouths of their decapitated heads. My uncle "immediately" volunteered to carry the flamethrower, not a coveted role due to the danger involved, and "torched as many Japs as I could find" till the end of the battle. He died 36 yrs later never having bought any product made in Japan. My cousin has continued this tradition to this date.

My grandfather was on Iwo Jima as a Navy Corpsman. Landed on D-Day and spent 21 days on the island with 1st Btn/28th Marines before being pulled back to the beach to help with triage and eventually onto the USS Mercy where he provided care until shipping back to Hawaii.
You or anyone else interested may want to check out this searchable online database of films taken during WWII. The Marine Corps History Division and the University of South Carolina entered into a partnership about six years ago to preserve these films.
The database includes previously hard to access films with more than 1,500 videos in the collection, including 80 from Iwo Jima.

Well, know you read it and where the downvote came from.

Of course. Your post smacks of an overly simplistic view of the nature of WWII based on watching History Channel and perhaps pursuing a set of Time/Life books with lots of pictures.

Go back to playing with your models. 2 Degrees, 30 years of military service, training and mentoring Officer and enlisted Marines alike begs to differ. Sayonara.

Russians ( some America , UK ) did mass war crime rape to Germans

Europe. The Germans actually treated their prisoners with respect. The Japanese tortured their prisoners.

I would probably have died from skin cancer in the pacific faster than the japs could have killed me.

I would have been a true patriot and dodged the draft.

Ah. That explains it. Your emotional connection to the Marines prohibits you from looking at the facts of the matter so instead You rely on that strong emotional bond to formulate your thoughts on the matter. Now your intransigence makes more sense to me.
