I'll try to update as soon as I see anything.

quote:

In essence, the D1 Council will decide to do one of these things today:

* Give everyone a year back

* Give only seniors a year back

* Give no one a year back

* Table the vote/discussion until June/later date.

-Kendall Rodgers 8:47am

With the #NCAA vote in less than three hours, I am feeling much more cautiously optimistic about a compromise being reached somewhere in the middle on the eligibility issue.

It is what I was hoping for in last week’s piece on the upcoming D1 Council meeting.

No one should be given a year back.

They will table it until they figure out a way to frick it up in the most egregious way possible. Then they will do that.

If they are going to screw with the draft the way they are talking, Jrs and Srs should at least get a year back

Messes up recruiting, roster spots, scholarships, etc. Sucks, but it's time to move on.

I could see them doing it hours before the draft leaving every coach with no time to make any kind of moves what so ever.

Much like someone already born advocating for abortion, someone who is not currently a college baseball player advocating that it's "time to move on."

it lean towards agreeing with you. While it sucks. This is life. It's not always fair. I think it screws up more than it fixes to allow these people to stay another year.

If their true intent was to do what's in the best interest of the players, and also to grow the game, giving everyone another year is the best short term way to do that.

They would need to make sure they make accommodations for scholarship numbers and roster size, as well. And that's where they will get pushback from the conferences (the ADs, not the coaches).

But given that MLB is trying to downsize the minors, this is the quick way for the NCAA to build up the quality of play around the country and help draw interest in the product.

Give everyone a year back, allow for a one time transfer, raise the scholarship and roster caps.

But two power conferences (my guess are Big Ten and Pac 10) were against any sort of relief altogether. If it is those two conferences in particular, I don't think any relief goes through.

The Big-10 and Big-12 were both against paying a third college assistant so if that's in fact true with the PAC-10 then I could see where no one is granted another year.

You can bet agents are going to try and get free agency for jrs affected that would lose leverage if they don’t get year back

They can sign UDFA under the deal, but it's capped at $20K.

Have to do something about scholarships if you give these kids a year back. If everyone is stuck at 11.7 and kids are coming out of HS, it's pointless. If MLB skips the draft, you have to let these kids get another year in college

Fully expecting it to be tabled because the ncaa is the most incompetent organization in this country

I would vote for give everyone a year back, adjust roster limitations for the next three years to adjust and plan, and then increase the scholarships for baseball to 18 for the next three years dropping two each year until balance is re-adjusted.

I like the increase to 18, but if they're insistent on dialing it back later, I would shoot higher and try to keep a permanent increase after all is said and done.

Start with 21 and dial it back to 15 for instance.

More scholarships helps traditional blue blood teams like LSU the most IMO.
