There won't be a 2020 NFL season! Not going to put thousands of people side by side.

Easy, just have everyone play the falcons in Atlanta. Plenty of social distancing going on in that stadium.

They will not alter schedules. All in or all out. Hopefully we can get the season in, but right now all bets are off

why do you people keep saying this? Every indication is that heat kills the virus. Even new york average high is in the 80's for june/july/august

Because football just dont start in september... they have mini camps, training camps, workouts, meetings, film, etc that takes place long before sept. The way shite is going, its getting worse before better... them letting thousands of people in a frickn stadiums all around the united states is long down the list. If they finally up and say in august okay its clear, they start mini camp, how far off schedule are we? Oct or nov? Then if a fall outbreak starts back up in ONE place theyl shut it down. Hope im wrong, i am a season ticket holder, and VERY excited about this schedule. But odds are not in footballs favor right now. Myron rolle who used to play, and is now a neurosurgeon said this today

quote:

Interviewed myron rolle who used play n now a neurosurgeon... they asked him his thoughts on nfl season starting in sept... he just said "I’d be shocked to see the N.B.A. continue, the N.F.L. have a season in the fall, any sports leagues to continue, and I think that’s for good reason,” he said. “You need to protect your fans, protect your players and put America’s health as a premium.”

I'm thinking given NFL player personal shedule, it'll end up being 2 preseason games/12 regular season games. Cut out the 2 same-place finishers, 1 interdiv and 1 interconf game from everyone's schedule this year.

Assuming Roger Goodell isn't dumb, of course.

I honestly don’t see any chance of the NFL having a full season. Who knows when they’ll be able to open the stadiums?

10 game regular season that starts Sunday, November 1st.

Home/home within each division and each division is paired with another division in their conference.

No byes

Playoff weekends remain the same.

Done. That’s what will happen.

People like you are in for a rude awakening with no evidence it slows down as being a seasonal virus.

You will be lucky if anything even happens this year in any sport. More than likely the NFL season is not happening and Brees retires.

I swear some of you people live in a bubble. If this thing is not seasonal and gives us no break, you're going to see a complete economical collapse across the entire world. It's going to be much worse than the great depression considering the lifestyle and how different the modern world is. Better wake up. It's not sensationalism or fearmongering. Nobody can predict where this virus will be 6 months from now but your priorities better be looking beyond football and preparing. Hopefully, it ends up seasonal, gives us a break and the if it resurfaces we'll be much more prepared to handle it.

I wouldn't doubt due to extreme situations if this bypasses some clinical trials for the vaccine. I'm definitely pro vaccine but I also understand how they work. They're dangerous in early trials so I would not be for them bypassing trials to get it on the market faster for mass population use. Certified vaccines are 99.9% safe for the population but a rushed one could be disastrous.

FFS - nobody knows what is going to happen in the next 1-3 months with the virus, and the regular season is still 5+ months away.

Other major sports could be playing games this summer for all we know - nobody knows shite.

What we do know is that Goddell and the NFL aren't going to be pussies about getting back on schedule once we get government sign off to gather socially again.

The schedule won’t change... Roger talked about this the other day. If they have to the may play a few games with empty stadiums just like the wrestle mania folks..... the majority of the cash flow in the NFL is for TV... if people are still at home by then it’s at cash cow for the NFL... NFL probably hopes your stuck at home.

Even worse would be if the virus keeps circulating through the Southern Hemisphere then comes roaring back mid-fall. That’s what happened with the 1918 flu. The second wave was worse than the first.

Sadly, we have no idea of what will happen to the NFL or the planet. Pray for a vaccine.

If there is no vaccine circulating to the public by September, there will be no season.

And it is doubtful there will be a vaccine by then.

The NBA shut down its season over a single positive test. Setting aside whether you can hold an event with tens of thousands of fans, no way every single player, coach, staff member will test negative. Sadly, I'm not optimistic for football season.
