If you can't afford it don't go, again nobody forces you to go to College (although the peer pressure and social conditioning is usually enough) College is a scam, the sooner you realize this the better off you will be.

We don't want to pay for it.

I'm supposed to be responsible for a loan that you agreed to?

pretty much this.

Most of the older folks here that went to college/post-graduate paid off their student loans. Sacrificing and scrimping to do it.

You can do the same.

Some of us aren’t completely against it. I’d be up for 0% interest student loans or deferment. Complete loan forgiveness seems unnecessary and possibly illogical. I’m openminded enough however, to realize I don’t know everything about it and open to listening and having my mind changed if forgiveness is in fact logically the best way.

How does it affect you and dont say showing responsibility. Most of you went and got a full 4 years degree for what we paid for a semester's meal plan.

And most of us paid for your college too.

In fairness, something like 90% of student loans are held by the federal government. Forgiving them technically costs nothing. It's just a book wiping.

It technically costs nothing, but to act like it will have no financial effect is naive. Taxpayers will pay for it one way or another.

Im not for full forgiveness. Girl from bay area of Cali decides to go to NYU to study something EVERYONE knows will never pay a lick...lets say gender studies. She graduates, comes back home and we're stuck paying the cost of out-of-state NYU when she could have just gone down the street to a great state school in Berkley?? NOPE!

My daughter, who is 25, just paid off $70k in student loans this past December. It's people like her that make the loan forgiveness idiots look like shite.

I’m 30 years old and 4 years removed from college. I worked my arse off for 4.5 years to pay for college with zero dept.

And I going to be compensated for doing it the right way? Why am I getting fricked over for not taking out ludicrous loans to party and take vacations?

At the very least, the government should quit making student loans. It's a bad deal for the government and for the student. The bank makes a killing because the loan is guaranteed. Without a government-backed guarantee, no one in their right mind would ever make an uncollateralized loan like this.

You took out the loan, you agreed to the terms of the loan, you should pay it back.

I already paid for my college education and my children. Why should I pay for yours?
