Uninformed gun owners

I was in the local gun shop picking up a few extra hundred rounds for the SKS. Very scary scene. The virus doesn’t scare me. The “quarantine” doesn’t scare me. Seeing people with weapons in their hands and completely clueless on what they are doing. That scares me. People that have never owned guns buying AR platforms. Yikes.

But I thought all the nuts already had guns.

My SKS came with a bayonet. Why do you need ammo?

Extra pew pews just in case. In all seriousness. Just be watchful. Lots of folks about to have guns that have no idea what they are doing.

They should have been taught gun safety in school

Nah, far more important that I carried an egg around in a makeshift bassinet for two weeks in high school.
Guns? Literally Hitler, man.

Lool at the bright side. Some of the nonsense is about as entertaining as good old Latarvus J William's tweet.

Well just remember to be polite.
An armed society should be a polite society.

Not all gun owners are nuts ... quite the contrary.
But the larger the number of guns owned, the greater the likelihood of overlap.

There was a time where you, too, didn’t know how to use a gun.

I was 6 and had family actively involve me in education courses, family farm activities, and hunting. It’s not that they don’t know. It’s that fear has driven them to buy something that they have no clue how to operate. So now they are fearful and feel pressured. Sounds, well, somewhat dangerous.

Yep. And I didn't own one then, either.

I was and enjoyed it

I grew up in San Diego County (out in the foothills). My third grade teacher (an old maid) used to tell use about cleaning guns ...I'm 70 years old so figure it out... sometime in early sixty's... but one thing that always stuck in my mind is she always tell us , "after cleaning your gun, wipe off the excess oil so it doesn't collect dirt/dust/crime". Good advise then and she would be tared and feathered today.

I was in Academy last night at 6:00to buy a new Kimber micro 9 and there were 15 people at the gun case waiting on background check. There were 4 pistols left in the case and all ARs and Tactical Shotguns were gone. Ammo for all common pistols was gone. All AR platform ammo gone. Luckily, I have a couple thousand rounds for my ARs already.
I had the opposite reaction as you. I was proud as hell that these citizens were finally exercising their 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms. Fear is a good motivator. Fear and caution is why you and me have guns for every scenario that we can imagine. While I was waiting on my background check, I enjoyed talking to a few of the 1st time Gun buyers. Told every one of them it was awesome that they were buying for self defense and that every one who can legally own a firearm should buy one or five.

In what scenario do you think they will be shooting at YOU?
Relax.
Relax.

Absolutely feel the same way. Sure everyone needs gun safety and range time but I for the life of me don’t understand the posts shaming first time gun owners. An armed populace is absolutely necessary to the survival of our republic so in my mind the more the merrier.
