After seeing Walmart with a full store, grocery stores full and gas stations packed I call BS on restaurants being shut down. Limit them to 50% occupancy. Let them make a damn living. The price of this is insane to our economy.

I posted this in another thread but this one is more relevant.

Just heard a guy on the news say the restaurant industry is expected to take a 250 billion dollar hit and lose 5-7 million jobs.

Biden won't remember which industry he was saving 15 minutes after he says it.

They talk about closing Home Depot and Lowes. For what? So people can crowd into Super Walmart and buy some of the same stuff?

I went to Lowes yesterday to get a few things. It certainly wasn't as crowded as usual but there were plenty of people there.

A lot of the illegals in this nation work in restaurants.

Will we see a mass migration home? They won't be getting checks.

I guess so. Mexico isn't as impacted and they can't get unemployment.

Millions of American citizens work in bars and restaurants as well.

Our lowes had a good number of people in it. People are home and getting a lot of projects done. Best time for it.

A lot of people saying this obviously didn’t live in New Orleans right after Katrina. I was a student at Loyola, and they canceled the entire semester. We had to go to other colleges for the fall, because online learning didn’t exist. Five months later, the school reopened and fast food and restaurants were still closed inside and their drive thrus closed at 9 pm. Business was booming again. Life will resume.

Most of these people are just bitter their 401k's are tanking. The market has always been a total gamble. Far worse economic downturns than this have happened in America and yet... we're still here.

Agreed. Total overreaction since this started.

Yes, but the citizens can get some compensation. The illegals are up the famous creek without a paddle.

What will hurt the Americans? A lot of independent bars and restaurants, the Mom and Pop places. They won't be able to weather this storm. The big chains will be fine.

A lot of people won't have jobs to go back to.

Restaurants around me have been open for to go order all week. And as of yesterday they are now permitted to sell alcoholic drinks to-go
