Had a similar call but blaming nola for being in the middle a huge tourism weekend at peak outbreak is a bit outrageous. You northern fricks never seem to have a problem accepting the tax revenues brought in by Mardi Gras/Jazz Fest/Super Bowls/Saints. Nola government does very little right but this time government has nothing to do with it.

If Noah built another ark, Louisiana would be the ones banging on the door to let them in as the waters rose over their heads. Convinced of this.

I am guessing this will be on par with all other states “shelter in place”.

I've lost count. How many times has the State been locked down over the past week?

I’m a conservative and not a JBE supporter.

To be fair, he has done a pretty solid job so far. Just following precedents. Under-reacting would be political suicide.

Lol no

New Orleans is both a major port and a major tourist destination. That’s why it’s a Coivd hotbed.

Louisiana has done a piss poor job regarding this virus. The rest of the state will once again suffer because of the filthy motherfrickers of Orleans Parish. Oh, JBE is about as ignorant of a person I’ve met. Don’t know how he’s survived this long

This message from Gov's Office released 2 hrs ago says otherwise

quote:

Subject: Dispelling Rumors

Mr. President, Mr. Speaker, and Members of the Legislature,

We are receiving lots of inquiries about whether the Governor is going to require the state to shelter in place. Please take note of the following facts:

· There is no current plan to require citizens of the state to shelter in place.

· The National Guard is being deployed to help with sites that have been set up to house persons who are awaiting test results and do not have a place to stay, to help stand up drive-thru testing sites, and to help evaluate structures that may serve as temporary hospitals to support the medical surge we anticipate.
· The National Guard has NOT been deployed to invoke martial law.
· Local governments have the ability shelter in place without approval or direction of the governor.
· Shelter in place, as implemented by other municipalities and states, is not a complete lockdown that requires people to not leave their homes. People are still allowed to go to work, to go to the grocery store, to go to the pharmacy, to go to the doctor, etc.

Please help us to share this with your constituents. It’s important during this time of uncertainty that we maintain constant communication. Please know we are keeping you up to date as considerations and decisions are made. Rest assured that no decision relative to a shelter in place has been made. If the time comes that such measures are necessary to mitigate and slow the spread of COVID-19, we will absolutely have that discussion with you before announcements are made.

As always, we remain on call to answer any questions you may have or provide any assistance you may need.
Sincerely,
Adam Eitmann
Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs

I think everyone knows the “shelter in place” order is coming

Stop calling it a “lockdown” though because that isn’t very accurate

All “essential life sustaining” businesses will remain open and they are pretty liberal with what that means too
