The show is great. The only thing that bugs me about it is that the scene they constantly show of the outside of the house is not the same house as you can clearly tell from the inside scenes.

Usually sitcoms are funny because we can relate to them, imagining ourselves in a similar predicament, etc.
But these characters are psychotic , doing the most outrageous deplorable things , engaging in dysfunctional behavior that one could never really envision doing oneself.

I wouldn't watch Seinfeld if I were you then.

'Cause baby all my life I will be drivin home to you

Read an article that said everytime that show airs and that theme song plays the guy who wrote it gets $500 bucks. Probably why I think the latter seasons didn't have it play.

To think a UPS driver and a paralegal could own the house they did in New York is hilarious.

It's not more ridiculous than a woman's shoe salesman supporting 2 kids with a stay at home wife could afford this house.

Of all the shows to be morally offended by, this is a surprising one.

Its only because I generally don’t watch television, that’s the only reason

So you don't watch TV but one day out of the blue turn on this show, become morally outraged, and then log onto TD to complain on the Movie/TV Board (of which you by admission don't know what you're talking about) about a show universally loved?

It's like you logged onto the Music Board, told everyone you don't listen to music and then said, I heard this song, I wanna Hold your Hand...that band is awful and disgusting.

The Andy Griffith Show was The Beatles of sitcoms.

King of Queens was the Barenaked Ladies of sitcoms.

Yes, I logged on to the movie/tv board and gave my opinion. But you’re blowing everything out of proportion. I didn’t really become outraged, I didn’t actually mention morals; and although it’s true I generally don’t watch very much tv NOWADAYS, King of Queens has been on for over 15 years, so over that time period, I’ve seen a lot of their episodes!! You’re the one that needs to chill out. Where the hell did you get “moral outrage” from. I saw two people acting like twisted, demented individuals and I pointed it out.
I didn’t shame the writers of the show, I didn’t complain about having to shield my children’s eyes or describe how I threw the remote at the TV in disgust and screamed ! Go get a life man! All I did was give my opinion on one particular aspect of a television show which I’ve sure ive seen over 100 episodes!
If I wanted to elaborate I could say how the show has some great lines in it, there’s plenty of jokes in the show that work. But to me, situation comedies are supposed to allow us to be able to relate to the situation and that we can envision the situation happening in our life in largely the same manner. We can see ourselves reacting the same way to things; we can subconsciously say to ourselves that we can imagine someone reacting that way, we can picture someone we know that would behave the same way in that situation. Isn’t that what makes it enjoyable, the fact that we can picture that happening in real life? Isn’t that the god damn bottom line, that the writers are basically saying , “hey, there’s people out there that really act this way, there’s people in this world that would do this”.
Seinfeld is a good example. Many of you probably have heard the story where Larry David was explaining a scene involving the character George to Jason Alexander. And Alexander told Larry David that he didn’t George’s reaction seemed plausible; he said there’s no way he would react that way. Then David told him that the scene was from something that actually happened to David personally and that’s exactly how he reacted.

But in the KOQ episode I watched the other night, to me, the type of behavior they exhibit is just so weird and perverse, I just don’t see where there’s something humorous about it. I mean, it just seems to me that in order for it to be funny wouldn’t you have to at least believe that it’s possible that somebody out there might be capable of doing such a thing?

But would a husband and wife both actually conspire for each of them to encounter a couple that they are friends with and try to devise a way to cause each couple to get into an argument so that they will break up. This was done so that Carrie and Doug would each have a better companion to accompany them at a baseball game that they had tickets to. That’s just bizarre, weird. Watching them run around like that in that episode, it was just pathetic.

I think it's because you used the term disgusting. Seemed a little strong for a sitcom.

I think you nailed it. I just saw my original post and I was actually surprised that I entitled it “What a disgusting show”. That was a bit much.

I enjoyed the show and do watch reruns when I can catch them. I don't look for it, but will pause and watch it.

I saw Kevin James in Vegas quite a few years ago. His standup wasn't that great. His lead in guy was actually better.

What's disgusting about this show is it furthers the lie of all sitcoms, that a fat white guy can land a dime piece.

It can and does happen

But saying something is disgusting and repulsive isn’t blowing it out of proportion?

Whaaat?

King of Queens is one of my favorites and Arthur is the greatest character all-time.

I actually very much relate to the main characters.. as far as their disagreements go.

When did they get a new theme song? On the reruns on the lifetime channel there’s a different song.

Wikipedia explains that the first season had an "eight-second sequence which showed the window of a subway train moving past and then quickly stopping at the original show logo."

Later seasons got the well known theme song, "Baby All My Life I Will Be Driving Home to You."

The reruns we see in syndication have various edits of opening and closing credits.
