Asian nations turning on a dime back to seeming normalcy (China/S. Korea) doesn't add up

At least with regard to the possible notion that we are facing some sort of viral doomsday of millions dying from "exponential spread" here or elsewhere.
There's simply no way they were that much better on quarintine and containment measures, such that they were able to apparenlty erradicate such a threat and that it is likely we will be so terrible comparatively.
I've yet to see a good explanation for why this may be incorrect.
Did they comletely irradicate the virus? That seems unlikely. The more likely conclsion seems to be that there is some certain level of containment that will make this not a threat to normal activity. What that is may be the most important question here it seems.

We are told to keep our hands off of our faces because can enter mouth, nose, or EYES.
Advantage Asians.
Advantage Asians.

I’ll explain why:
Chinese 1: *coughs* I feel sick. I think I have virus.
Chinese 2: YOU NOT SICK. BACK TO WORK NOW!!!!

Yes they are that much better at quarantine and containment than the West. They also haven't erradicated it yet and cases are rising again in Singapore and SK I believe.

Has it been completely irradicated from S. Korea and China, though?

Why does S. Korea (8,413 cases) keep getting all this credit when Japan has 899 cases?

No but they don't have an election in November and a moron for a candidate who is likely to lose.

Chinese 3 to Chinese 1 &2: Step in this room.
Chinese 3 welds door shut
2 months later the door is opened.
Chinese media: Oh look they just fainted... at the same time but all is well.

Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand which were thought to have been successfully proactive, are now seeing second significant spikes.

Have you ever been to an asian airport before? Notice how half of everyone in one wears a mask, even when there was no pandemic spreading?
SARS may have felt like a joke over here but they took it more seriously in Asia than you can imagine, and have been waiting for this ever since. Literally everyone in Korea is wearing masks out in public right now. They are testing millions of people. They are all taking social distancing extremely seriously.
The virus isn't magic. If everyone works to make sure it doesn't spread, it won't spread.

quote:
The main answer seems to be that Japan has not conducted extensive coronavirus testing, especially in comparison to countries such as South Korea and Italy, which have aggressively tested people for the virus.
quote:
Compared to the number of tests conducted in South Korea (more than 248,000 so far), the number in Japan has been just over 10,000.

Can't have Corona if you don't test for it.

How about India? Such a huge population and they seem to have a small impact, as of now. Less than 200 known cases.
