A lot of our state revolves around the oil sector. What are your thoughts on these?

How do you think they will hold out with the price of oil and their stock prices continuing falling? Will they Hold onto employees? Will this lead to kicking out unions?

I knnow 5 people that have already been laid off. I have a buddy that owns a company that supplies oil and gas with valves for their rigs. He won't make it if this goes longer than 3 months. Shitty thing is he was just coming back from the last fallout from a few years ago.

LA gets fricked every time oil prices go down. We are not diversified enough, nor large enough, to weather it like Texas.

So when we (Texas) decide we've had enough and go back to being independent, Louisiana will have two options:
1. Merge with us.
2. Become a client state.

A buddy owns an O&G staffing & recruiting firm. His contacts at the majors have told him there is a giant lay off coming at almost everyone of them.

Both better than the status quo

I know Louisiana doesn’t really have any other options, but O&G is historically a cyclical business that will always have major ups and downs. I really don’t feel much sympathy for those that get laid off in the downs, just like I don’t feel much sympathy for the snowball stand that has to close in September. You know what you’re getting when you jump in.

Louisiana is truly a butthole state.

Everyone of them as in big oil? Actual Company employees?

From what he said, contractors will be hardest hit, but employees will be going too. Both big oil and big related like Schlumberger.
