Strong belief Bears and Teddy Bridgewater are close to wrapping up deal in principle (legal tampering) as we know these things are fluid...

Save me the icb speech.

@ProFootballTalk
Bears are talking to Teddy Bridgewater about a deal that, if finalized, would most likely make him the starter over Mitchell Trubisky

Pump the brakes!

quote:

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo is "not expecting" the Bears to sign Teddy Bridgewater.

Instead, the Bears are eyeing other quarterback options, potentially including Jaguars QB Nick Foles. It's unclear if money became an issue, or if the Bears are simply liking other quarterbacks more. Regardless, it now looks like Bridgewater will turn his attention to the Bucs. Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reports Bridgewater "could be" their backup plan if they swing and miss on Tom Brady. Until Brady decides where he wants to play, we should expect secondary quarterback deals to be put on hold.

Watch out for the Bucs. I think this is where he winds up.

Bridgewater's market is looking hotter than Jameis Winston's at the moment, as he has also been connected to the Bears. What appears certain is that the Saints have to let him walk as they finalize re-signing Drew Brees and tender RFA Taysom Hill at the first-round level. Conservative Bridgewater would be a poor on-paper fit with coach Bruce Arians' hyper-aggressive down-field mindset.

And from hearing from a few teams and other sources, Teddy Bridgewater is not expected to sign with them even if they don't get Foles.

agreed. My prediction is that Bridge and Brady will be QBs of the Bucs and Pat; we just don't know which is which yet.

Would not be surprised if Teddy ends up in Carolina since Brady is familiar with him. CAR is not 100% sold on Newton returning as the starter.

LINK

quote:

Tom Brady announced via Instagram that he won't return to the Patriots next season.

"I don’t know what my football future holds but it is time for me to open a new stage for my life and career," Brady announced on his social media. The full statement can be viewed in the link below. It's truly a monumental occasion as the 42-year-old's decision will not only put him in unknown territory for the first time in his illustrious 20-year career, but it will ultimately cause several other quarterback dominos to seemingly fall in the next 24 hours. The Chargers and Buccaneers both reportedly made offers of $30-plus million annually, likely pinning the vet in one of those two destinations in the near future.

I think this opens the door for Teddy to NE. This is all strictly a guess, but he seems to be a good fit there.
