What’s the point if the CWS is canceled

At this point, the effort (on the part of the coaches, within the context of what's going on) should be on getting the pitchers onto summer league rosters. We haven't sent too many out in recent years to help control their innings.
Well, now they need innings, and so does everybody else's pitchers.
Work as if the Summer Leagues will be allowed to start on time and get guys signed up.

I could see some schools getting together for some exhibition games in May possibly if the NCAA allows it.

If the NCAA has already announced granting another year of eligibility, how can there also be games played going forward?

To play the damn game! What’s the point of the bowl games that aren’t part of the playoffs? What’s the point of the basketball NIT tournament?
To play the damn game!

Those are consolation games. I think the point here is why play the games if no true champion can be crowned. The teams are playing for nothing at all. The entire regular season is just an exhibition.

You can still crown an SEC champion.

In a shortened season, it would still be seen as a championship with an asterisk. Don't get me wrong, I would watch the games. But, it just won't have the same feel.

This seems like a waste of time.

Pretty easy to tell who doesnt really give a frick about baseball in this thread.
Playing for an sec championship in a season with no world series, would be basically playing for the national championship, against the best competition in the sport

Well , our pitchers ought to be well rested

It may not be if we could play a full SEC slate. But, do we really trust the SEC and/or the NCAA to be able to handle the logistics of rescheduling so many games? Also, how would a full season effect the MLB draft and draft preperations? I don't follow MLB at all so I'm not sure what those answers are.

Make the SEC Tourney like Omaha and crown a champion there? Play a few series for seeding? Could be fun actually.

If we are being realistic, we know it could be done with a little patience and creativity...but the sec doesnt have that

Agreed. I think it’d be fun as frick. Hoover would be a mad house.

Not allowed to practice... Can they enforce unofficial workouts?
The logistics don’t even make sense. You can’t start playing on April 15 if you don’t let teams practice for more than a month. They’d need a week or so to get back in the swing. By that point it’s so late it doesn’t even make sense to play.

Sorry, fat finger. Suppose to be an up vote

I'd still be training as hard as ever, if not harder than ever, during this outage. The players would be as ready as they were, or more ready, for fall ball/spring scrimmages/etc. They would also have a slight head start from having some game speed. It would be somewhat of a re-start for pitch counts, pitcher/hitter adjustments, etc. But, in the end, I believe it would serve everybody well to let these kids get out there and compete...even if you don't get an official crown for good performance.
On the other hand, how do you handle eligibility if you let them just go compete for compete's sake? I would just wash it and stick to allowing the seniors another year.
And, I say this all under the hope that this pandemic simmers down.
