Latest update
I was forced by my PCPs to immediately go back and get tested after I could barely get enough energy to stand up. Finally was given a covid-19 test after they found pneumonia in my lungs. Official test results come back in 3 days
Oschner gave me a super strong shot of antibiotics and have put me on a 10 day prescription of Levofloxacin (750 mg). It is really tough to breath today but at least I’m able to stand up. Fever has made sleeping miserable (fluctuates between 98 and 102 although it’s been in the 99-100 range this afternoon.
One thing that sucks is that my supply of Gatorade is down to 5 bottles and my next shipment doesn’t arrive until Sunday.
I can honestly say this has knocked me out mentally and physically unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Skiing in Deer Valley for six days to not being able to hardly stand up is sobering.
Hopefully the new concoction of medicine will help me turn the corner.

Welcome to our world brother. I would call Memorial Hospital at Gulfport to get tested. We had to leave Mobile and call in some favors to get tested in Baldwin County. (This is with immune compromised people with multiple doctors orders.) We will not get results until next week.
Also, I have already been warned about test result “problems” Drink tons of fluid and sleep

Sorry I missed your update. If it makes you feel better I have had pneumonia dozens of times. Double pneumonia 4 times, hospitalized for it half a dozen or more, and I am fine.

It's sad, probably tragic in some cases, that we may now have effective drugs for this virus and still can't test patients with pneumonia in a timely manner. When it's all said and done, hopefully there will be a serious effort to find out why.

I would go to the press with this story. BCBS should be exposed for that shite.

Update #3 I have now confirmed exposure to someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus. Oschner only testing elderly patients who are in compromised health now as they didn't order enough tests. So even if I flew back from Wuhan today Oschner would not give me a test to check for the virus. This is not a problem in other states just Louisiana.
WHY am I not surprised? Hope you're feeling better. WHEN did they give you the pneumonia diagnosis??

Oh crap .. did they give you like a pulse oximeter or instrustions to go to ER if further difficulty breathing?

The whole idea that any coronavirus test is to be paid by insurance at this point in the game is laughable. IMO, a state of emergency given to whole country should amount to the fedgov paying for these tests since they all have to be logged and registered with them anyway.
I'm against socialized medicine, but in situations like this when emergency is already declared, it's hardly socialized medicine and more acute viral response.

What a clustermess for our healthcare system that we can't do the simple things right.
Tell them to give you the good stuff... Hydroxycloroquine with zithromyacin.
