I'm talking about taking it apart and cleaning it, not just using the brush. Also, how often do you change the grill grates?

If I had a nice grill, I would.. but I don't do any of that. I just buy another cheap grill.

i've got a weber gas grill that's about 8 years old. i replaced the igniter once, and replaced all the porcelain bars & grates with stainless..i keep it fairly clean to help avoid it from catching on fire.

Clean ours before each use. If you use olive oil spray on the grill it keeps food from sticking b/c it doesn't have any starch. Olive oil is great on cast iron too

before and after each use. On top of that, i put some of those disposable aluminum baking pans on top of the burner beneath the racks. Keeps the mess down and avoids flare ups.

never why remove the seasoning from your grill which is natural nonstick such as a cast iron skillet?

Alot of gas grills come with cast iron now. Mine has it. Nothing wrong with treating the grates like a cast iron pot but I think they are talking about the well, greese trap and burners which is where your greese fire would start you wont get any flavor from there anyways

I use a chimney when I use my charcoal grill however as long as you let the fluid burn out about 30 minutes it will disapear. If you don't though, it'll taste like shite.

the instructions for mine say to clean it, turn the heat up all the way and close the lid to vaporize all the mess left behind
