My daughter was going through my wife’s memory box and found these buttons. My wife doesn’t remember what games they were from. They are from 86-90 (when she was a student).

The “Bo” one is clearly versus Auburn.
So pick either of the 2 times he played in TS

Duh, I didn’t think of that.
Who would Joe be?

LSU never played Auburn with Bo.

But it could still be a stab at Auburn

Didn’t realize that. I know he played at Auburn for 4 years. Assumed he played vs us (I wasn’t alive)
The “Bo” spelling makes me believe it refers to him specifically
Just realized if she was in college starting in 86, that would be the season after he won the heisman. Maybe throwing shade at their former heisman winner.

Bo use to do a commercial in the 80’s “Bo knows”, so it’s obviously him, I’m just trying to figure out who Joe is

Joe Brady. Your wife could tell the future

Sure wasn't Joe Dean. He was football illiterate.
I was in school 87-91 and don't know what these refer to. They seem slightly familiar, though.

Coach was Mike Archer. Hodson was QB for most of that time. No Joe's as QB or RB then.

It may have been the 1988 LSU-Auburn game (earthquake) ... Bo Jackson was the biggest athlete in sports around that time. But, I have no idea who Joe is.

That’s what I said, but she swears it’s from LSU

I don't think we'll be able to properly identify those buttons until we get pics of your wife.
That said, I'm not sure why LSU, or anyone associated, would hand out buttons that didn't have purple or yellow (gold) or both in them. And those don't seem to refer to anyone from LSU. Has to be another team.
You need to put your foot down and remind your wife how wrong she is.

Joe Ferguson...Arkansas

Unfortunately, I would guess these are Bama buttons and referring to “Joe” as Joe Namath.
They are obviously faded red lettering.....
But never forget, RTWFU!!!

LSU never played Auburn when Bo Jackson was there.
LSU and Auburn rarely played each other until the SEC went to divisions. Bo played at Auburn from '82-'85. LSU played Auburn in '81 then again in '88 (The Earthquake Game), and didn't start the yearly rivalry until 1992. BTW, LSU leads the series 31-22-1.

Obviously Bo because there was a Bo Knows commercial back in the day with Bo Jackson and Bo Diddley
Posted on 3/6/20 at 6:28 am to theantiquetiger
looks like SF 49er memorabilia, circa 1989-1991. The Bo Knows Diddley was a late 1980s commercial. Bo was playing for the Oakland Raiders and Joe Montana was the QB of the 49ers at that time. And there was a fanbase rivalry between the two fanbases in the Bay Area. Although the teams rarely met in the regular season, preseason games were common, rowdy and often times violence/fights broke out.
The "We Came, We Saw...." button is a quote from Ghostbusters (released in 1984). SF 55 vs. Denver 10 Superbowl was in January 1989. Hence, the button.
the decade of the 1980s was a golden age for 49er football, this combined with the coloring of the buttons and the snarkiness of the contents indicates 49er memorabilia.
