looks like SF 49er memorabilia, circa 1989-1991. The Bo Knows Diddley was a late 1980s commercial. Bo was playing for the Oakland Raiders and Joe Montana was the QB of the 49ers at that time. And there was a fanbase rivalry between the two fanbases in the Bay Area.
Raiders were in LA at that time.

Not from LSU. The printing would never be red. I've never seen anything regarding LSU in any sport that had printing in red, and I've been going to LSU games since the late 50's.

Yeah, but the fanbase did not move. Know several Raider season ticket holders from the Bay Area that flew down to LA for all home Raider games and will fly to Vegas now that the Raiders have moved again.

I am actually thinking of a play of words w "Bo Didley" for you youngsters -lol
who was born in Miss.
and also may have something to do with a team having RED.
Ole Miss, Miss State,
The JOE part ???
certainly waaay too late for Joe Namath.
Joe Sullivan was in Auburn and that may be it if the ones initiating the printing of the button were from Ole Miss, or Miss State and would have used their color. ???

The "we came" button is a riff on a line from "Ghostbusters" (1984).
There were tons of buttons and t-shirts made around the country with similar language, so your button may have nothing to do with LSU or even sports. Might have been picked up at a frat party.
A few million shirts and buttons with "Joe knows Football" have been sold to Penn State (Joe Paterno) people over the years. Did the wife have a Penn State connection?
