If you don't raise your kids with a religion, how do you expect them to choose a religion later in life? They are missing the exposure. If they are raised with some type of religious beliefs while young, they can always reject those beliefs when they are older if they so choose...but not as easy the other way around.

I don't get older people.. always wanting to force their beliefs on others. I am sorry about your grandmother, but on a different note we are obviously going to see a decline in this type of behavior very soon once some of these generations die off.

She called me this morning asking if we would consider baptizing our children before she dies.
I told her that my wife and I would have a level headed discussion.

Just have a fake baptism.

Do it. I a heartbeat. Unless you are an utterly heartless individual. It means something to your grandmother. That doesn't mean it has to mean anything at all to you or your children.

WTF is wrong with you? Baptize your children and LATER IN LIFE, if they decide to stay a different direction, then good or bad for them. You are the parents. You do now what should be done.
Are you gonna let em choose their sex too?

If you are Catholic then raise your children to be Catholic and follow that religion.
But don' follow it too closely, feel free to pick and choose which parts of the Bible you want to abide by and which to ignore like a good Catholic...right?

Your logic here is really flawed.

Tell your grandmother baptism means nothing without faith.

It's true.

I think people use religion as a crutch to fall back on when they do ultimately perform bad deeds in their lives. Sorry but when I die I'll be fricking dead. Nothing will exist, just like I don't know shite before I was born.

I guess this is a catholic thing to baptize at this early age, but they would not understand at that age.
