What a joke.

Unbelievable. What a horrible call!

Then he gets mad that Gio didn’t hit it when it was high and way outside.

Doesn’t matter when a hit and run is called it is the hitters job to put the bat on the ball no matter where it is pitched and how dumb the call is.

Dude runs himself into so many outs. Also leaves nothing for big inning potentials.

Woodward was giving him the stink eye

Yes, but Gio struggles mightily to hit lefties when they throw strikes. PM set him up for failure.

Guys one 1st and 2nd against SLU with no outs.....0 runs. Impressive

Paul thinks this is coaching.

Definitely not wrong here but once it’s called you know your job and have to execute and at least foul that pitch off. The call is dumb but the execution of the dumb call was still bad so both things led to a guy beings thrown out at third.

Paul bet on a mean reversion. Gio had 9 Ks in 20 ABs coming into tonight.

Don’t put a player in a bad spot. The hit and run comes at a risk of making a batter swing at a pitch not in the strike zone.
To use another sport, if on 4th and 4 would Coach O call for a qb sneak and then fuss at the players for not executing?
The worst part of Paul’s love of the hit and run is that he usually uses it when a pitcher is starting to walk batters and then he puts on the play and makes his batter swing even though the pitcher is struggling.

But, ths point is, why are you trying to hit and run with a guy who strikes out as often as that. It's obvious he has trouble making contact consistently. So, quit trying to take away blame from the coach who should know that's not a good call with certain batters.

Worst analogy I’ve ever seen

Dumbest call of the night with a guy up prone to strikeout and who already has a hit on the evening
