No kidding Einstein. I wonder why he doesn’t have that many ABs.

Because Bianco got the start in LF and in 20+ ABs is hitting .060. Try considering the alternatives before making your ignorant claims.

Oh, and he's been to the plate more than 9 times. He's also reached base, in what doesn't count as ABs. Which you are trying to use against him, but is actually a positive towards Gio.

You think Bianco was playing LF instead of Gio?

Mathis & Cabrera, right? Lefty hitters got the two hits off the lefty relief pitcher as I recall.

Yes...you’re not the only one who understands that ABs doesn’t equate to plate appearances..next time say plate appearances

Of course not, but anybody with a brain knew Hampton was incredibly talented and was going to get opportunities. Bianco not hitting allowed Gio to move into CF, while keeping Hampton in the lineup as the left fielder.

Gio is playing because Bianco wasn't getting it done.

That would be correct. Which also spoils his entire argument.

Oh, I'm very well aware that I'm not the only one who understands it, but I was talking directly to you, and I wasn't sure YOU understood it, based of the prior comments you were making.

Mainieri said in his pre-game interview with Franques that in Texas’ 9 games this season they had not brought in a lefty yet to relieve.

So he purposefully put the 4 lefties in a row at the top of the order to make the righty starter feel a little uncomfortable facing so many lefties in a row. The righty starter gave up 2 of his 6 hits allowed, including Cabrera’s homerun, to two of those first four lefties in the order and also gave up 3 runs scored, of our 4 runs, to two of those 4 lefties at the top of the lineup.

Then if Texas countered with a lefty reliever after their starter faced those 4 in a row lefties 2 or 3 times through the order, that reliever would be put into a situation he hasn’t faced yet this season. So, he might feel uncomfortable and he might make some mistakes. The lefty they put in to relieve gave up 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Thxs for the info.
Coach had a sound reason. Strategy worked. We won the game.

You’re welcome. It made sense to me when he explained his reasoning.

Lester believes he knows more about baseball than Mainieri and Dunn combined. And he believes Mainieri doesn’t put any thought to what he does.

While I don’t always understand why Mainieri does what he does, I am confident there is a reason for it.

Remind me who got out back to back with runners on 1st & 3rd & only one out?

Remind who gave Beloso a 3-0 green light with your best hitter on deck? Lmao

I’m fine starting 4 lefties in a row against a righty, but you better have a plan when they bring in a lefty. Which of course he didn’t. You don’t understand situational baseball.

And of course you understand “situational baseball” better than the coach who has won over 1,400 division I baseball games, right?

We got the win, and it wasn't against some bush league school, so I am happy.

We had the lead late in the game. Paul will go with defense in that situation. And he views gio as the best defensive centerfielder

Bingo! It was the correct move. Now, batting four lefties in a row? Plus, who would you pinch hit there? Every candidate is struggling.

That’s the key.
There is a reason. It may or may not work out but there’s a reason, and much of baseball is like that.
