NFL playoff structure is about to be changed. Under the current CBA proposal, seven teams from each conference will make the playoffs, with only bye per conference, sources tell ESPN. It would go into effect this upcoming season. More coming on LINK .

A change nobody asked for and nobody wanted and nobody likes.

Designed solely to sell a few more TV commercials.

Disgusting but not surprising.

Does this put the Texans opening playoff spot in jeopardy?!?!?

Great move, the football world really missed out on the 8-8 Steelers and 9-7 Rams not playing for glory. Definitely complete teams with title shots.

Home field is now everything and there's going to be plenty of years when a shite division 13-3 team gets to coast over 12-4 teams who have to play all three weekends before the Super Bowl.

To keep aging big name quarterbacks in the playoff picture for a couple more seasons. Not a dumb move.

More details: Under the current CBA proposal that NFL owners are pushing for, the playoff field would be expanded to seven teams, while the regular season would be increased to 17 games per team, and the preseason shortened to three games per team, per sources.

One extra regular season game and an extra playoff game each season?

They going to be bumping everyone’s contracts up by about 1/16 of the current value to reflect the extra game everyone now has to play? Didn’t think so.

But why

More teams make it.

Keeps things more interesting for the post season. And again waters down the regular season.

Reward more teams for being .500 and take away the incentive for another team being really fricking good

That’s terrible
