?? I'm guessing you have to deal with the usual rural LA bs but how is it overall? Better than Opelousas?

There are some decent neighborhoods outside of Opelousas and you are closer to Lafayette. That being said, New Roads is probably better

Not a bad naming strategy for a Louisiana town.

If you like tattoos, baws, and single mothers, then New Roads is the place for you.

I was in a funeral procession up there last year. Every car on the highway ( maybe 20 -30 cars ) pulled over on the side of the road as we passed. New Roads to me, and I first went there 45 years ago, is a bit like stepping back in time. It still feels southern and not too run down . I’m a fan.

Man, when you set the bar that high, don't be surprised if nothing meets your standards.

ETA: I googled "False River". This is the picture Google put up next to the map.

Pointe Coupee has terrible public schools. Livonia used to be a good school but now it’s a holy terror since they closed Central PC and combined all high schools into one at Livonia.

Anyone from New Roads know a Beau Morgan that died in early 2000s from an aneurysm? He was in his early 20s, was a good friend of mine. I think he grew up in BR though, but was originally from NR

One of my friends retired to NR, he says if You need something that.cant be bought at Walmart or Tractor Supply you are driving to BR, have anything beyond a minor health issue you are driving to BR for doc appointments. After 5 years my friend is looking into moving to BR, he figures he has spent half his time in NR driving to BR and back,
