Made a boudin trip this weekend

A local Lake Charles radio station recently conducted a poll of best boudin in Louisiana. My dad and I both share a love for South Louisiana food, so we thought we would drive around and try some of the top places, even though we’ve tried most. Janise’s in Sunset won the best in the state by this poll, pictured below, and neither of us had tried it before. We stopped by Tboys, Mr. Ts, Eunice Superette and finally Janise’s.
Below is a picture of Janise’s, the poll winner. Neither of us were very fond of it. It had a unique taste that included a lot of onions, green onions and cilantro. They also used extra long grain rice, which gave it a weird texture. Our cumulative rating was 6.5. Far from the best in the state.
Next up was TBoys in Eunice. This boudin you either love or hate. It has a ton of liver, which I happen to love. Easily a top 3 boudin in the state for me.
I didn’t get pictures of Mr. Ts or Eunice Superette, and they are vastly different. Mr. Ts, is my personal favorite. It’s a very dark, thick boudin and they use a lot of Kitchen Bouquet. Eunice Superette was nothing special, but it was decent.. Had what I though was a heavy Paprika taste.
My ratings that I’ve tried in the state go:
Mr. Ts
TBoys
Billy’s
Peggy’s Superette (LC)
Heberts Specialty

You need to get up to Marksville to Juneau's Cajun Meats right across from the Paragon Casino on La. 1.
Their boudin is the best I've had, and everyone I let try it always wants me to get them some when I head up that way.
I've bought as much as $350 worth of boudin in a single trip when heading to that area to visit extended family.
Their boudin balls are fantastic and so is their cracklin' fixed fresh daily-----but it is $$$$ for what it is.

Juneau's is fine but we really love T-Jim's 10 miles down the road in Cottonport. Also, near Juneau's is a surprisingly good mom and pop Mexican joint in a former Taco Bell.

That place is amazing. And it's not tex mex. Real legit Mexican food.

I wouldn't feed Mr.T's to my dog...

Probably a Best Stop guy

From the list, I've had Billy's, Don's, Best Stop, and Kartchner's. I thought Billy's and Kartchner's were easily better than Don's and Best Stop.

Jerry Lee's near the top and Kartchner's near the bottom?

To be fair, the list consists of about 50. I just posted a screenshot of the top. However, the list is not legit.

It does look suspect...
Eh, in any case, I'm hungry for a snack. I'm gonna go pull a pound out of the freezer and make some Parrain Specials and see how long it takes the vultures to pick the plate clean.

Totally agree, best boudin I've ate in the state.

Every time someone posts a multi stop trip and Mr Ts is tried, it always comes up number 1.
I’ve been telling y’all!

Can anyone recommend somewhere that will ship up to Chicago?

Billy’s
I get their boudin shipped to customers (out of state) for Christmas.

You can order TBoys from their website. It’s probably not the best boudin if you’re trying to share it with your Chicago friends. Heavy liver taste that would probably be a little strong for most.
You can also order Billy’s from their website. I’d recommend either.

Pretty much all of the big boys ship. Check out their websites. Some of them only ship on certain days of the week. Some of the best and most well-known:
Kartchner's
Billy's (My personal fave)
Best Stop
All of them make great product. Don't let the fact we'll fight bitterly over them fool you.

Miss me with that bull. Easily the worst boudin in south Louisiana.
