Cade Doughty is a 2019 SS/RHP/UT with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Denham Springs, LA who attends Denham Springs HS. Strong athletic build. 6.65 runner, very smooth defensive player, hands work very well out front, moves very well for his size and physicality, arm strength plays up in games and has been up to 91 on the mound, type of player and athlete who can probably play every position on the field well.

Maybe we get better on that side.

How do you know we get worse at third?
Mainieri expressed concerns about Doughty not being where he needed to be defensively yet. I seriously doubt he plays SS for LSU, maybe ever.
Now, that being said, I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if we don't see Mainieri do some experimenting in the midweek games. Mathis at SS, or maybe even giving Cranford a shot if he really thinks Doughty can't handle the left side.

Or maybe PM thinks his leather skills are worth it.

Well he is 1-8 to start the season, so he is picking up where he left off
That would be more of an indictment of our defensive woes

Ignore the haters. Their lives are trash.

Cade will more than likely be starting in the infield, I wouldn't be surprised if CPM has him or someone else ready at SS by SEC play.

Maybe he needs LASIK? Even if he doesn’t, the procedure should keep him out the lineup for a few weeks
Not sure you understand how LASIK works bub

So you you knew the topic and subject yet continued to click on threads reading thousands of replies?
You really need to do some self reflection, because honestly, that's not healthy. God bless you Mr. Hughes.
Ps, your son is not LSU quality

It is literally brought up in every single baseball thread. Some moron has to chime in with it, like they think they are saying something new. I'm just sick of hearing it. It is broken record at this point. Move on.

Yes let’s protect the player’s sensitive feelings from real world criticism.
First off I don’t think anyone is trying to protect him from comments, we are just tired of people repeating the same bullshite over and over that everyone already knows.
Second, there’s a difference between criticism and just plain insulting someone. Criticism might sound something like, player x swings at pitches out of the zone or he needs to shorten his swing. Not simply insulting the guy because he’s weak.

And another thing, we are only through the first weekend series. The book is not yet closed on whether or not Hughes has improved at the plate or not. I’ll reserve judgment until later in the season.
And he is still THE BACKUP starting btw. I’m sure there are plans to work someone else in. You can actually move players to different positions in this game after the season starts, believe it or not.

No problem, LSU has a shortstop in the recruiting pipeline for 2021, Connor Simon, that will come in and make everyone forget about Hal Hughes. He is the number one SS in the state, 26th SS in the Nation, and 81st prospect in the Nation.

My problem with Hughes is, his defense is pretty overrated. He isn’t in the same stratosphere as KRob or Josh Smith defensively. Plus didn’t he have like 2 or 3 errors this weekend? I’m fine with his at bats this season if he could play elite defense. He at least looks competent at the plate so far through 3 games.
