I’ve never been to Houma but the easiest difference is lafayette has about 5x the population of Houma.
Maybe Houma and New Iberia would be a better comparison

Hercules has always had a reputation for rowdy, drunken behavior and pulling some very NSFW stuff. Everyone knows this, and still bring their kids to the parade and become outraged when something happens? I swear Houma is the South Park of Louisiana...
And keep in mind, this is the same town that thought that 15 year olds in Depeche Mode T-shirts were sacrificing cattle and small children behind a shopping mall in the late 80’s...

Spent time in both places. Lafayette and Houma are quite different. I personally think Lafayette is much better IMO, but to each his own.

I remember that shite too and it was pretty big deal at the time. And the Coves Mansion (Prospect and East Main), supposedly they had some Anarchy shite going in there too. Turns out it was just pot head kids from VE, Roberta Grove and Carriage Cove going there and fricking with people, spray painting shite.
