BREAKING: #CU coach Mel Tucker has agreed in principle to become the new head coach at #MichiganState, per sources. After Tucker turned down initial interest, MSU power brokers came back repeatedly to Tucker’s reps w/ an offer that was impossible to ignore

I thought he publically said no thanks?

If this is true, I feel awful for the buffs.

Leaving after only one year????

That program can’t catch a break

Almost like "I am not going to be the Alabama coach".
Interesting hire given his lack of experience but gotta have a good staff

Dude it’s a homerun hire for MSU

Mel tucker was the number one recruiter in the sec at both Bama and uga and is a very smart defensive mind

Oh he's a great recruiter and very good defensive mind. One of year of HC experience is a little sample size but I think he will do fine. I think it's a pretty good hire

It’s a much better hire than Dantonio was at time of his hiring, and look how that turned out for MSU.

In my opinion, Mel tucker is an eons better hire than like Fickell

He's a really good coach, but this isn't true.

He was solid. But was only at Alabama one season. That staff had Lane Kiffin, Mario Cristobal, Tosh Lupoi, and Bo Davis as recruiters. Tucker didn’t rate among the Top 25 of recruiters on 247 that cycle.

I think he'll be at an NFL gig but CU should go hard after him

Rumor is MSU will pay him $5.5M a year. I don't blame him for the quick change on the job.

With that being said, any player that committed to CU this year should be allowed to look at other options if they so choose.

Mel Tucker made this comment recently. Funny how things change when you secure the bag...

quote:

Colorado head football coach Mel Tucker yesterday: "there’s no transfer portal in the real world.”

As a coach, Tucker has transferred 10 times, most recently last year from the University of Georgia to Boulder.

His Colorado roster is full of transfers as is his coaching staff.
