All i am asking is why is it different this time?
Because Moore won’t be on the ballot in November. Even if by some wacky chance that he is, he actually has a better shot at winning this time because it’s a General Election. The 2017 Special Election was a perfect shite storm that simply won’t be replicated. Even if the scandal hadn’t dropped, Moore would’ve most likely underperformed in that race because he had a history of doing that in General Elections. Don’t think people really grasp how awful of a candidate Roy Moore is.

Who wins the nomination for the Republicans?
It will be either Sessions, Tuberville, or Byrne. All 3 will beat Jones by at least 10 points.

Posters in Louisiana can’t be too critical on this, we just elected a tax and spend trial lawyer to a second term as Governor

To me.... this indicates all Dems will vote to convict. It will stay in party lines. Cryin Chuck and Nancy need something to crow about.
Jones must know he is done and decided he wanted to go out as a good soldier.

Exactly. Soon to be former senator Jones is making sure he has a job offer from a liberal lobbying firm after he is shown the door in November.

Yeah yeah yeah.
Strange, Moore or Brooks...
Heard it before.

Except only one of those actually ran against Jones.
And I've already explained to you why Jones won.

You make an excellent point, particularly about the second article, which is ridiculous on its face.

“Moderate” dem = liar on a fundamental level
Another noted”moderate”, Ryan from Ohio, walked out last night because he couldn’t handle the survivor of the victim of the illegal alien

A democrat won in Alabama. Ruby. Red. Alabama.
The conventional wisdom on this board was that Roy Moore was going to win easily, and that Doug “baby bones” Jones was “toast.” Im just asking what is different? Also, isnt Roy Moore running? Granted he is polling in 3rd/4th, but I believe he was about this far out for the 2017 race as well.

Lol he is so gone in November
Dude is hoping for a cabinet position if a Dem is elected President.
Those hopes cannot be very high as of right now, either.

At least he voted his gut and didn't pander for votes. I can respect him for that. He will be a one *short* term Senator, so might as well not have any regrets from your experience of a lifetime and live to work again in your party.

No shat. You are again speaking of Moore vs Jones.
It’s not Moore vs. Jones this time. Jones also didn’t have a Congressional record.
He does now.
You know who else won ruby red Alabama? DJT. Moore just snapped the last thread he was hanging on by.
If it was 2016 again and the Mississippi Governor’s election was the same year, we would have a “moderate” dem as governor. The most popular dem that has held a statewide seat in decades.
But it wasn’t. It’s 2020 with 4 years of prosperity and the questions among republicans about Trump is no more. An unlikeable Tate Reeves was supposedly in the lead by the margin of error according to the polls.
Jim Hood lost by 7 points.
The likeable Sec of State? He skulldrug his opponent 20 plus points for LT. Gov. He won solid blue delta counties.
What does this mean? It means republicans voted for the “moderate” dem with no record. If he had 4 years of “resist” coming back home with him, well, it would have been ugly.
Jones is done. He’s pandering for a job now.

Tommy Tuberville coming to take that job. You know what he will say to Doug Jones after he defeats him in November?
Go to hell, get a job!

Continue to ignore the extraordinary circumstances in that election.
Keep on trying to play some idiotic version of "gotcha". It only serves to make you look like the childish twat you are.
(that was an insult this time since you don't seem to want to engage in actual conversation)

He was never this far out. He led the primary pretty much the entire time and he was up against one legitimate candidate (Strange) who was pretty flawed. That was a special election with low turnout which favored Moore’s base. This year, Moore has to overcome several strong candidates and the primary is on Super Tuesday.
I don’t know what else we have to say to show you this is an entirely different set of circumstances than 2017.
