Will be there Wednesday - Friday. Anyone got some must have places to try out while there? We eat about any type of cuisine.

Terry Black's BBQ is outstanding.

Fyxe is a great spot downtown. Get the biscuits.

You'll get a lot of good recs for BBQ, but we always make room for a meal at Shady Grove. The queso catfish is my personal favorite.

For a different kind of BBQ, try Loro. From the guys behind Franklin and Uchi. Asian/BBQ fusion.

Red Ash if you can snag a reservation.

I like Perla’s for lunch.

Veracruz for breakfast tacos.

Via 313 has really good pizza.

Brisket at Terry Blacks
Was there last week and went to Kome for sushi and was incredibly impressed. Much better than anything BR has to offer in regards to Japanese.

Detroit style FTR. Really good shite. They have a couple different locations, but the food truck at craft pride on Rainey is awesome. Tons of great beer there and the back yard is fun with live music too.

If you are staying near South Congress, hit up Curras for some good interior Mexican food.

Comedy/History

Check cap city comedy's calendar and see if there's an act you like: https://www.capcitycomedy.com/calendar . They have some really great comics come through.

Also, Check out Master Pancake Theater. They show a movie and 3 comedians sit up front with mic's and make fun of it. It's been around for 10+ years and is a great thing to do if you want to experience some local Austin stuff. The head guy has a small case of TDS but it doesn't really impact the show. They are doing Terminator 2 this weekend. I highly recommend going! It's at Alamo Drafthouse Ritz downtown, so you can get food while you watch. LINK

I stole this from my Austin notes
TUES: If you are doing food trucks, I assume you'll be around the South Congress area. This is a super hip place to hang out (and it's great to be there on a Tuesday, because it gets crazy packed with tourists). Some cool stuff to do in this area:

•Coffee at Jo's
•Cocktails & snacks by the pool at Hotel San Jose
•Live music at the classic Continental Club (Toni Price plays early on Tuesdays and James McMurtry plays really, really late on Weds, but he's worth it)
•Margaritas and queso at Gueros
•Oysters at Perla's (or really any foods at any restaurant run by Larry McGuire,
•Shopping for nothing and everything at Lucy's in Disguise, Tesoros (my most favorite!), and Uncommon Objects (and many, many more little shops)

WEDS: breakfast tacos. Here are my favorites:

•Taco Deli
•Any place on this LINK
•Maudie's - Note - this is more for nostalgia than quality. The tacos actually are pretty mediocre.

THURS: breakfast

•Magnolia Cafe - a classic!
•Curras - real Tex Mex breakfast (also, website is NOT representative of the scene there. it's a pretty dive-y place)
•Josephine House - if you feel fancy
•Counter Cafe - super tiny and lovely foods

Not a bad list but I'd skip Guero's. The only thing good about that place is it has a nice outdoor area with live music sometimes. Food is pretty blah.

I'd recommend Mozart's for coffee. Good coffee and it's on the water. It's a nice place to shoot the breeze.
