My wife did last year. Apparently found a first cousin in Illinois that no one knew about.

He messaged her and told her who his parents were and asked how they could be related. Apparently his mom was messing around with my wife's uncle at the time she got pregnant with him. It put a major strain on his relationship with his mom because she flat out denied it. His dad told him that he figured he wasn't his son all along but raised him like his anyway. Crazy stuff.

Discovered my brother is actually my half-brother. Shook him up. Our parents have been dead for several years. My father absolutely did not know as this half brother was his favorite child.

Usually there is just a knock on my door and some teenager there saying that they think I'm their daddy. Get off my lawn.

Some of these younger generations finding out us Boomers were not joking. When we said we were railing their mothers and grandmothers at a frantic pace.

We meant it.

So I'm thinking about signing up for 23andme, change my visible name to a Korean name, and then activating the family&friends feature. Just wondering if I should time it for Father's Day or April Fools.

That's hilarious. My Dad served in the Korean War, and said the only Korean he could speak was "Where's the whorehouse?"

I'm friends with a guy who used 23andMe last year and found out just before his 32nd birthday that his entire life had been a lie. His father wasn't his real father. What's even more screwed up...is that his father had no idea he wasn't the father until then either.

Found out my sister's husband had an illegitimate child out there he didn't know he had through a connection with my nieces and nephews .... that's caused some issues and I'm on my BiL's shite list which I kinda feel bad about.

Can you shed a little more light on this?

No, but my dad's best friend from college found a brother on there. He was adopted and never knew his biological family, beforehand.

Three of my wife's cousins thought they were blood sisters and found from 23andMe that they each had a different father.

Adoptee here. DNA test identified half relatives on maternal and paternal sides, so I then connected the dots to my birth parents.

A good friend of mine had a running, playful argument w/ her husband for years...he kept saying he had Irish blood- she bought him 23andMe for Christmas 2017 to prove he didn’t.

Come summer of 2018, he found 3 new children of his from his college days of hit em/quit em ....which brings his total of children to 7 lol ...my friend will complain about the new drama this revelation has caused (mainly from his two children from his first marriage) - i laugh at her bc, she only knew bc she was pressing on proving him wrong about being Irish ....but she was right- no Irish blood lol
