What is the boards opinion on this movie?

It got pretty average reviews and got a 6.2 IMDB, but Ive always stopped at this movie while scrolling through cable channels like I am doing now. It’s currently on AMC. Pretty good cast as well.

Maybe Im just a stickler for these types of “potential end of the world” movies, but it’s one of my favorites. This and Armageddon.

Edit: Fun fact; both Deep Impact and Armageddon came out in 1998. Deep Impact was released May 8th and Armageddon was released June 30th. It’s strange that these 2 similar movies came out within 2 months of each other.

It was like a CBS version of Armageddon. Boring.

I know it’s nothing special, but it has 3-4 different storylines that have nothing to do with each other than the fact that everyone is worried about the end of their lives.

Armageddon was a better movie, but Deep Impact sticks with me more.

Deep Impact was better because the asteroid actually hit Earth

Yeah I think that was the redeeming quality of Deep Impact to me vs Armageddon. I totally agree.

Leelee Sobieski’s face looked the exact same in 2008 as it did when the move came out and probably still looks the same.

On an unrelated note, I would bang Leelee Sobieski.

It is because it started as the same movie. Just like Dontes Peak and Volcano

This happens all the time. I always assumed it was because one studio gets wind that another studio is making a certain themed movie so they assume that there must be a market for that particular type of movie. For example, Deep Rising and The Sphere were release within 2 weeks of each other in 1998.

It's a decent movie, but not good enough to sit through AMC's commercials.

Armageddon has the better action, but Deep Impact actually has half of the comet hit Earth in spectacular fashion and is worth the price of admission. It also has the better sacrifice, IMO. The astronauts diving full-throttle into the comet after tearful good byes was pretty badass.

You shut your whore mouth! Those astronauts in Deep Impact aren't half the man Harry is in Armageddon

Outbreak and the Hotzone is another example. Hotzone was supposed to come out but the other studio ramped up production of Outbreak and got it out so fast that it forced the other studio to cancel Hotzone.

Freeman's speech at the end is better than anything from Armageddon.
