This interview has some small nuggets in there; basically Kamara saying he played hurt and how much he respects Drew. The end of the article though is were it gets interesting, although ambiguous enough to have to read into it a little:

quote:

The time will be coming soon for the Saints to make major decisions on their stellar 2017 draft class, which has had a huge hand in completely turning the franchise around after three straight 7-9 seasons from 2014-2016. What Kamara said about an upcoming contract leaves us all to wonder what will ultimately happen.

"We'll see what gets done. I'm obviously in my third year of my rookie contract, so we'll see. Might be something going on."

I know many here want the Saints to trade Kamara, but what you fail to realize is how much Payton loves him. It took him 11 years to finally find his perfect RB for his system (Bush never really lived up to it, and Sproles did for a very short time), so I don't see him letting Kamara go somewhere else that easily. I think if K asks for too much then P lets him walk, but this APPEARS to be K saying there is talking going on. It does have an overall air of positivity to it, so hopefully they agree to a reasonable deal that benefits both sides.

The part about the injury should put all the Kamara hate to bed. I know that's wishful thinking on my part, but a reasonable man can dream:

quote:

how he was injured midway through the season, not being 100 percent and not being able to play how he knew he could play, However, he battled through it, stating how he wanted to be there and be available. Kamara added that it was the last two to three games where he felt like himself and was healthy.

Kamara said, "I don't think anything really changed. When it's kind of slow, you just got to stay patient. You can't get frustrated, and there's times when I was frustrated, but more with the injury than anything. You just got to stay true, and I think a lot of people start chasing ghosts when stuff slows down, it's like you start trying to fix things that aren't broken. That's my biggest thing, I was like, let me not try to credit this slow offensive production on my part to something that is totally unrelated."

He went on to credit that belief to help him stay focused and stay even, and is what ultimately helped him get back hot at the end of the season.

Kamara having a subdued season could be great for saints contract wise. There are 2 end of the spectrums where he thinks his value is so this is an interesting negotiation. Much more so than MT13 was so straight forward imo.

Whether our intentions are to trade him or keep him longterm we need to extend him now so that we don't lose him after this season and get nothing in return. IMO

sign taysom, he can do just as good as kamara and do more

use taysom in kamaras role and we dont miss a beat and save huge money while trading kamara for a 1st rounder

Honestly wouldn't be mad at a 4/40mil extension

puts him at 5th highest paid, teams are regretting paying david johnson, le'veon bell, and todd gurley that money

Also, consider this: Melvin Gordon was offered 10mil annual and turned it down. Now look at where he's at and how much he's in line to lose.

It was obvious he was playing hurt. I don’t know why some thought otherwise.
