TPC Louisiana - Theres no way this place makes money right?

Take a look at the tee sheet of TPC Louisiana and you will see times are wide open from now through Mardi Gras. After a multi million dollar renovation, it seems that this course would be dead within months if it wasn’t for the Zurich.
So what’s the bigger problem here:
Lack of golf interest in the area
Or
$100+ Tee times pricing out the clientele
What do y’all think?

When do they stop letting public play in preparation for the Zurich?

$100 rounds
Not exactly close to anything
Not the most compelling Pete Dye layout
New City Park course probably taking some of the play
that would be my guess.

Idk how it’s doing but here’s my problems with the course:
Its in Avondale.

Many may not agree but I’ve always felt like Louisiana lacks in interest in comparison with other southern/southeastern states.

I think the core LA golfer is just as passionate as other states. My league had 40+ guys who drove 1.5 to tee it up in cold rain in January on Sunday. We have 2 challenges here: Our terrain sucks for interesting golf architecture, and we have a crazy amount of other options year round... hunting. Saltwater fishing, offshore fishing, freshwater fishing, football, food, festivals, Mardi Gras, etc..

I always tell myself I'm going to play more golf in the summer, but I usually end up finding myself taking part in other outdoor activities. This year, I change that tho.

Probably the worst time of year to play golf on the gulf coast (at least Texas and Louisiana)
This year we have been lucky with sunny days on the weekend but most courses don’t drain out fast. Even if the course is open it’s cart path only, so why book in advance

Layout is pretty boring and the green fees are high. It's also in the middle of nowhere. I really wish City Park South Course wasn't boring as hell and overflowing with hackers.

It’s no Squire Creek, but it’s a TPC course. Some TPC courses charge a lot more than $100 per round.

maybe you should join the pro tour since you find the local courses so boring and filled with those annoying amateurs.

Expensive, in the middle of nowhere, not a particularly challenging or interesting layout, Mardi Gras, LSU, pelicans all getting family entertainment dollars
Pick one of the above

There are not very many golf courses that make money.

Location couldn’t be worse for that course to succeed imo. Thankfully they have Zurich out there

I love that place and its worth every penny of that $100!

It will never be at City Park, course is way too easy.

It plays 7400 from the tips and the fairways can be narrowed. I've played the greens when "tournament" firm and it's a challenge.
By the time the TPC/Zurich contract is up, I'd guess they can rework some of the greens that are easier.

Some trees will have grown in more too making it more difficult. But I don’t see the logistics of having the Zurich at bayou oaks working. Parking alone would not be possible with jazz fest going on. Even without jazz fest there is not enough parking

They can just park people on the North course. It would probably be an improvement.
