We used to tailgate in the bullpen lot early for pretty much every SEC series. I can’t count the times Mainieri would come out there and just shoot the shite with us. He really is a nice guy. He really is a different person in front of camera for whatever reason.

PM also does a lot for the community in the off season. He is a big asset to LSU and EBR.
He needs to have a good year though, but I’m pulling for him all the way.

He thinks what he did years ago makes him wonderful now. He has been coasting. He even admitted he took a “victory lap” season after they won the 2009 title. That alone indicated to me LSU didn’t need him. Whines frequently and wastes talent and resources.
Baseball is a distant 3rd for me now. It’s gotten very stale and eventually a change will be made and LSU will be better off without him.

Besides being regarded as a great coach and one of the best current coaches in the sport by everyone except some LSU fans?
His biggest flaw to LSU fans is he isn’t Skip Bertman. The best coach in the history of the sport.

I've said this all along he is a great regular season coach;however, there are many schools going to the CWS with less resources than we have. He's done a HORRIBLE JOB building a complete pitching staff!! He usually only has 1 stud and some other average guys, and a decent closer. We should have a top 5 pitching staff EVERY FREAKING YEAR!!
That's why we get destroyed in the regionals, supers, and CWS. Honestly every coach in the SEC should be able to come here and win regular season titles!

Miles would take superior talent and win extremely ugly. We had no business losing Auburn and Florida in 06 or Kentucky, Arky in 07. OR kept throwing over the middle in 08.
CPM did a great job his 1st 3 years, but after that he had all the resources to build powerhouse teams. Instead he built teams that can grind out 20 SEC wins per season, but had ZERO juice in the postseason. 2009 and 2017 we're the only postseasons that we won a 2 or more CWS games. Under CPM we've only had 2 good postseasons in 13 years that's sucks considering our resources.
