UPDATE
Today marks day 14 since we were wheels up from Wuhan and closes out the first federal quarantine in over 50 years. We will officially be out of quarantine at 9am pacific.
We couldnt find suitable flights out today so are staying on base one more day and flying home tomorrow. Anyone by the way know if In and Out Burger has a location in LAX?
Last night they threw a going away party. Beers, burgers, hot dogs and chinese take out. It was great to eat something different.. the menu has gotten monotonous.
I am closing out the go fund me at $6,500 and cant thank everyone enough for the support. Here is an approximate breakdown of the costs-
State Dept. flights from Wuhan- $4,400
Flights home LAX to JFK- $1,000
2 extra weeks parking at JFK $150
2 weeks unpaid work for Honk $1,700
Total- ~$7,250
We did get about $1,000 back from our orignal flights home from China Eastern so when everything shakes out we will be pretty much whole if not a little ahead. If we end up getting any refunds for our state department flights we will be making a sizable donation to a charity.
I do want to mention Project Strong One, a military charity is the one responsible for getting us toys, and other life necessities while we've been here on base. I'm leaning towards donating their way since they been so great to us and made things so comfortable in our 2 weeks.
