why not just deposit the check? Of course, he would need to have an account which he doesn't b/c he's not allowed b/c of the $ owed. That's how they roll

I’m going to guess that’s not the way it actually happened. My guess: they told him that they would have to put a hold on the account until the check cleared, he acted like a fool, and then the cops were called. I’m sure he’s not the first minority to ever open an account there.

Then you're an idiot.

The parish is probably 50/50 these days.

If he was trying to deposit the checks and not cash them, why wouldn't the bank just accept the deposit and place a hold on the money for a few days until they confirmed the checks were real and they cleared?

From the story, you don't really know. Maybe he wanted to get some money back from the check and the manager didn't let him and then he caused a scene and that's when the police were called.

It’s possible...but he would have had to cause a scene to the extent that the manager felt the need to call the cops and fill out a SAR.

If that’s what happened, why would the bank be issuing an apology to the guy?

The Liberals/SJW/Media have blended the two and made them the same, which they are not.

Prejudice = Archie Bunker/George Jeferson
Racist = Adolf Hitler/Malcolm X

Definitely not the same thing.

I feel sorry for the next bank he uses. Cashing two large settlement checks is definitely gonna look shady as frick.

You probably should feel sorry for him, not the poor bank

usually settlement money from a lawsuit goes to the law firm representing,they deposit minus their fee,and cut you a check or cash ,a hold can be expected.

They could hold the check for a short amount of time and validate the check easily. It's really just a few phone calls and you can validate a check.

Still though, this has nothing to do with being prejudice or racist. If they didn't even attempt to validate the check before calling the cops, then they were likely being racist, maybe prejudice, or maybe even both depending.

Good chance someone that looked like the alleged victim had defrauded the branch before so how can one hold that against the bank employee? THAT being not taking a chance on the check and since no employers train anymore, he may not have know to call the bank to verify funds. Poor guy may have come from Micky D's on a diversity hiring. When I lived in little rock this time last year, no bank employee looked like me when I went in to open an account. Quite disturbing and not a reflection of the part of town I lived in
