Chengdu is my favorite city in China as well.
Though the view of the Bund and the modern skyline in Shanghai is surreal.
And yes...the food in Wuhan and the whole province was excellent...not Sichuan level though.

The CBA (chinese NBA) season might get canceled. That would be really interesting.

Mostly agree. BUT I don’t trust Chinese data and we don’t how it will change when it hits populations with different immunities.

One thing is for sure...the Chinese are lying. That's what they do...it is part of and an accepted cultural norm.

It'll be real interesting if this gets a decent foothold in another country and compare the numbers.

Why not, they are well known to be highly transparent and trustworthy

I guarantee the 17 dead is a lie .
17 dead vs 540 infected as of yesterday. around a 3% mortality rate. but it is supposed to have a 10 day gestation period to full effects. and the numbers were from like 8 to 17 in one day.
i wonder what the mortality rate is on the 540 who were in the later stages of exposure vs the ones of the 540 who are in the early stages.
if 17 of the first 50 to get it have died, then you are looking at a 1 in 3 mortality rate.
something has them scared to shut down that much commerce on a 3% mortality rate virus.....

The scary part is that is only a quarter of the people Mao killed.

Well, at least we now get to know the real numbers.

From the article:

Imperial College London said it estimated a total of 4,000 cases in Wuhan alone as of January 18 based on the number of cases reported in China and elsewhere.

Sounds like we can bring the threat level down on this virus based on the patients who have died thus far.
An examination of the information provided by the government about the 18 reported deaths show a disease that has thus far largely killed older men, many of who had underlying health problems.
Most had gone to the hospital with a fever and a cough, though at least three did not have fevers when they were admitted, according to the health commission’s statement.
The victims include 14 men and four women. All were identified only by their last names. The youngest was a 48-year-old woman, Yin, who died on Monday, more than a month after her symptoms were first recorded. The oldest cases were two 89-year-old men who died on Saturday and Sunday. The median age was 75, a figure that did not include the newest death in Hebei, an 80-year-old man.
Many had underlying conditions like cirrhosis of the liver, hypertension, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. Most spent more than a week in hospitals, with some undergoing treatment for a month or longer. But two died just four days after they were admitted."

I'm not going to really panic until there is a case in Houma.

Daily Star "infections could be as high as 9,700" according to British expert

By that time you'll already be infected.

If that video is true and people ARE literally dropping in the streets and you have patrols of HAZMAT-suited medics/police running around, there are DAMN SURE more than 500 cases and 18 deaths. In a city of 8 million, that would barely be a blip on the radar.
