According to AFP news, Huanggang, population 7.4 Million is being put on lockdown. Train station will be locked down, bars and theatres will be closed as well all cars to be checked.
Further, the city of Ezhou, population 1 Million will also have its train stations closed.
So, if you're scoring at home, thats almost 20 Million people being put on lockdown. More than LA and NYC combined.

Fun Conspiracy tidbit: Apparently there is a cdc like bio-lab in Wuhan. Might the Chinese have been developing bio-weapons? The plot thickens!!

And, finally, a bit about that lab in Wuhan:

BEIJING (Reuters) - China on Thursday locked down two cities at the epicenter of a coronavirus outbreak that has killed 17 people and infected nearly 600, as health authorities around the world took action to prevent a global pandemic.
Health officials fear the transmission rate will accelerate as hundreds of millions of Chinese travel at home and abroad during week-long holidays for the Lunar New Year, which begins on Saturday.

A researcher with ties to China was recently escorted out of the National Microbiology Lab (NML) in Winnipeg amid an RCMP investigation into what's being described as a possible "policy breach."
Dr. Xiangguo Qiu, her husband Keding Cheng and an unknown number of her students from China were removed from Canada's only level-4 lab on July 5, CBC News has learned.
A Level 4 virology facility is a lab equipped to work with the most serious and deadly human and animal diseases. That makes the Arlington Street lab one of only a handful in North America capable of handling pathogens requiring the highest level of containment, such as Ebola.
And, finally, a bit about that lab in Wuhan:

As the central Chinese city of Wuhan grapples with a previously unknown strain of virus and is on the verge of getting physically sealed from the outside world, ironically, the top laboratory in China equipped to find a cure for it lies right in the middle of the city’s 11 million population.
Neither national health commission (NHC) vice-minister, Li Bin, nor Gao Fu, director of the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said anything about it at Wednesday’s briefing in Beijing, though they talked a lot about the unknown origins of the novel Coronavirus: It’s dangerous, of mutating nature, a Class B virus, getting Class A prevention and control treatment.

17 dead isn't thinning, it's less than Saturday afternoon homicides Chicago.

The death rate is very low, for sure. Thankfully, so. More than likely the deaths are the elderly with compromised immune systems to begin with

I guarantee the 17 dead is a lie . You don't lock down 2 cities and millions of people over 17 deaths. I bet the real number is hundreds if not thousands.

Apparently they are adding a couple more cities to the lockdown as well. And all this during their luna new year which is like Christmas, apparently.
Im with you on this one. Something isnt adding up here.

My point in the other thread about how bad this could get... no way they're practically quarantining an entire PROVINCE over 600 sick and 17 dead.
Just imagine for a minute how bad an infectious disease would have to be for the United States to completely quarantine/restrict travel to, let's say, the entire state of Florida. This is sketchy to the max.

The 17 deaths have all been aged 60 or above with one person at 48 with pre-existing conditions.
Most of them were in their 70s or 80s. The virus causes pneumonia which will frick up anyone with weakened immune systems.
Until healthy people start dropping, I'm not too concerned.

The first issue with this is equating the Chinese government and its people to the US government and its people.
The Chinese government has the means and will to do something like this at a far earlier, and actually more crucial period of time (to slow infection) than the US does.
I wouldn't read into the fact they are taking these measures earlier than we can as some sign thousands have died already on its own. It's just what totalitarian states can do that we can't.

I really hate to think that the Chi-Coms might consider altering and weaponizing Viruses, for whatever utilitarian purpose. But honestly, I truly believe that they would do this, because they are ruthlessly 'efficient'. Think Mao. Killing off the Old, would be a big boon to the Chinese Machine. Efficiency.
I shudder to think what may come to my own door. And were it not for my beautiful Great, Greatgrandaughter (whose welfare I am responsible for) and extended Family and Friends...I'd just move on to the next one and let have this mess.
We'll know soon enough. High Ups probably already do.

It's nothing. Call me when Madagascar closes its port -- then I know it's serious.

I'm seriously considering selling most of my stocks and investments today. IF this is something that shuts down China, and the WHO declares a global crisis, it will have serious ramifications on the stock market, and would happen quickly. I'm fairly certain any gains I might potentially lose are worth the risk of a market meltdown if this is bad.

Of all the scenarios, this one is the scariest to me. They cant replicate our tech, they cant even make drywall that doesnt kill people, but somehow they can open a level 4 bio lab and that will turn out ok?
No telling what they stole from Canada, either. or Harvard.
This could get scary.
