Did anyone here ever go to UT Arlington’s old arena? Has to be one of the most unusual environments ever. Playing on a stage!

Wichita State has to be up there. It's raved about every single time ESPN comes here.

quote:

This is a very good one. Went there when they played Tennessee 6 or 7 years ago with the VanVleet/Baker undefeated team and it was crazy. Game was in their downtown off campus arena so I didn't get the full impact but it was really good.
Was here for this. Great game and atmosphere. Walked right out of Intrust and partied at Lou's with Coach Marshall in his grey pinstripe suit haha.

No longer.

Gotta give Oregon credit, they always liked being on top of you and the fan close to the action.

When Providence plays at URI its fricking electric. Tough ticket too. Tourney feel. Rhody has a great lil arena, fans right in top of the court. Cant wait til Dayton comes to town later this season.

Providence on the other hand... meh. not a fan of the dunkin donuts center. Been to a few NCAA tourneys there and it's good for hosting, but the atmosphere is very lacking, cooperate, NBA vibe.

St. Mary's. McKeon Pavilion is small but rowdy.

Oklahoma State. The rows of seats are damn near stacked vertically. It’s a great venue for a basketball game.

Washington’s Hec Edmundson Pavilion definitely makes this list when the team is good. Yeah, I am biased but when the team is winning it checks many boxes:

* old, historic venue (no NCAA D1 Men’s Basketball team has won more home games at one venue. UW is the only with 1000+ home wins)

* crazy student section (when the team is good) directly behind team benches. The “Ernie (ole!) Kent Fiesta” game is student section HOF worthy.

* TV and radio crews mid level opposite the students and benches

* the western windows that provide natural light for daytime weekend games

* arena is also home to the Husky Football team locker room. An underground tunnel links it to Husky Stadium. Was also home to visiting football teams too until the recent mega remodel of Husky Stadium

Maryland’s stadium in College Park is very underrated. That place gets loud and hostile during big games.

I'm surprised Vandy's Memorial Gym hasn't been mentioned yet. It's a weird place and great homecourt advantage when they're good.

As for smaller conferences, they say War Memorial at San Francisco is a tough place to play.
