Thanks for this. I've requested a sticky as I think it's nice to have at the top.

I agree with the playoff odds in that link. For the last spot in the west they have the odds at NO 30%, SA 29%, POR 24%. I think when it boils down to the end of the season that's who we're going to challenge. We play the Spurs a couple times at the very end of the year too.

Good analysis. We have to consider the other teams between us and 8th. It’s a race, it’s not just “3.5 games back”. It’s “3.5 games back” with 4 teams ahead of us. Gotta beat them H2H. SOS looks good though

I think something we've seen from out team, even in the preseason, is that our 2nd string guys can help us win the games against the mediocre teams in the league if our starters aren't playing well. The energy they bring does wonders.

I'm hoping that we can feast on the mediocre east teams, as well as the west teams that are getting ready to give up. When i say feast, i mean win like 80% of them at a minimum. Do that, and hope to play near .500 against the playoff teams and we'll be alright.

San Antonio is the only team I'm worried about. Their SOS remaining isn't nearly as bad as the rest of the teams ahead of us. And we have to beat out all of those teams listed if we wanna get in because it will be very hard to catch OKC.

It's still very doable though. We just need to go on a bit of a run and hope the Spurs don't do the same

We’re in the exact same spot we were after winning 5 of 7 to pull to 6-9 early in the season, right before our 15 game losing streak. At the time, we were 3.5 games behind the #8 team in the West.

It’s wild that this team could potentially make the playoffs after starting 6-22.

The great Zach Lowe who coined the brilliant “Pellies” nickname that so many of us use said that 538s playoff projections are nonsense and we have very little chance

****The 7th spot may also be up for grabs over the next few weeks....OKC (28-19) may be selling at the trade deadline. Something else to keep an eye on.

i'm curious why people keep saying this.
they are firmly a playoff team

adams is 26 years old
paul is going nowhere
gallo and roberson come off the books and would be rentals for their new teams

who else are they going to sell?

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. We’ll just have to go take the 8th spot. No team is going to give it to us. #WBD

I think it's clear at this point Portland is the scariest team to worry about for the 8th spot. Huge wins over the weekend @ LAL (13pt dogs) and Vs Utah (7 pt dogs)

EDIT: Portland's remaining SOS is down to 22nd....borderline must wins vs them the rest of the way

If we Milwaukee I say let’s ride to the playoffs. Trade Miller and a pick and try to get a contributing player. If we lose, trade Jrue and build for next year.

So who are we rooting for here? I say Memphis.
