Just a way of limiting Trump's witnesses. Cruz wants a one-to-one ratio.

If witnesses are called, Trump should have zero limits on the number he calls. Regardless of how many or few the Dems call.

It's a bad idea, but it scares the literal shite out of Democrats. They don't want Hunter Biden within a 5000 mile radius of DC.

The darn Republicans haven’t learned anything from Trump
They still believe if they play fair, or if they give Dems what they want, they will be liked and receive reciprocal fair treatment.
This will never happen and Trump is an example of it. Trump had a infamous terrorist killed, and the Left still finds fault with him.
Too many Republicans simply want to lay low, not stir the pot and continue getting reelected.

I’m fine with that, but they need to backcount to the House impeachment, where Republicans only got one witness. Senate should give Dems just one.

Why can’t everyone just call everyone they want? Get to the truth. Why is everyone so scared of the truth?

No, they (the Dems) get none now. Repubs get whomever they want.

Time to return the favor.

It is the second-best option for Trump, after “no witnesses.”

The Dems have proven nothing worthy of removal, and Trump will prevail as a result. Presentation of ANY witnesses by EITHER side is just grandstanding and playing to the media.

I suspect that the reciprocity proposal is a compromise, because there is concern that (1) Senators will defect and vote to allow testimony from unfriendly witnesses who will outnumber the handful that Trump wants to call and (2) many of the same Senators will vote to disallow many of Trump’s proposed witnesses, as legally-irrelevant to the impeachment issues.

Remember that Rand Paul is advocating against ANY witnesses.

Commence shooting the messenger.

Correct.

Witnesses should equal Pandora's box for Dems. Once opened it won't be closed until all the bad Juju gets out.

There should be no witnesses. House managers present their case. Trump attorneys counter with everything they said is bullshite and unsupported by any eyewitness testimony in the House Articles of Impeachment. Move to dismiss on lack of evidence.

Yeah - I love Cruz but this is stupid.

First - Trump should get to call witnesses to rebut these worthless Articles of Impeachment item by item. This is the place to slam dunk the stupid "investigate his political opponent" and 'trying to rig the next election." And to dispel any basis of 'threatening out national security." Would also be the place to explain the reasoning behind investigating corruption of the Obama administration in Ukraine - and substantiating the need to investigate what went wrong with the 2016 election.

The DEMs get NOTHING - they had their opportunity to call any witness they wanted during their turn in the HoR.

Then - say no more witnesses. We will rule on the 'joyless, somber, self-evident "high crimes and misdemeanors" as described in the indictment.

Nothing more.

Seems to me that the Dems shouldn't be allowed to call any witnesses, but that's just me. The Republicans were denied witnesses in the House.

I think if they're going to continue down this road the Republicans should say "frick it" and set the screws to them. Dems get no witnesses, Trump calls as many as his lawyers deem necessary, which is all of them.
