No, it’s been closed for several years.

You talking Earline's Alligator Hilton? Been closed over a decade now.

Miss Earline hasn't had control in probably twice as long. A couple took it over from her and turned it into a gay bar for a little while until they drained Spanish Lake and destroyed their business.

Thanks for letting me know--I was just thinking about it the other day for the first time in years. Had no idea it had ended that way...

Yeah, miss earline and her daughter, Betty, have both passed. They were great ladies. Mrs Betty's son has moved to the Carolinas I believe, haven't kept up with him much since high school.

Spent a lot of weekend around there when I was a kid.

I found these pics someone posted online. I'm not sure how old they are but it made me sad. We used to go out there on Sunday nights for the free red beans & rice.

Yes it did You factored that in to the shot.

We were briefly rough-housing in there one Thursday night and it didn't take much for two of our guys to "fall" through the wall near the door, landing on the ground outside.

Have seen one or two people roll their vehicles off that gravel road down into the deep woods back in the day.

I thought you made this up just to be a smart aleck. That’s pretty depressing!

Were actually a decent couple that owned it. Loved the land and idea. shame what happened to their business after they put to much money and work into it. Money and politics won that situation though.

Well that explains the unusual experience I had last time I was there. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. All my drinks were paid for.

Gator Bar was the first place I had a legal drink in 1994.

I go fishing over there in the summertime. Not sure who the guy is who owns the property now but he's very strict about not letting anybody on the property. Last time I parked in the "driveway" and within 5 minutes he was out there ranting about how someone had broken in and stolen all his cypress boards. I actually still have an old t-shirt from there that Earline gave me back in the day. Too bad it no longer fits.
