Jaxson needs to work on little things like nuance in his screens. He is close to being great. His energy is amazing.

I was sitting court side and that ref, #56, was suspect the entire second half. Dude was literally smirking and smiling as he was calling fouls throughout the entire second half against the pels. What really bothered me the most was the fact that every time they came out of a timeout he was constantly glancing at the scoreboard and clock. Neither of the other two referees were and I made it a point to look at all of them. Dude looked sketchy as frick throughout the entire second half of the game. I called him out on it multiple times and he wasn’t happy.

It’s either a no call or an offensive foul on Gobert for initiating the contact in the first place.

how defense is called in low block should be revamped.

Game would change drastically.

Shaquille and refs changed game for the worse.
He charged and got away with it.

He has got to be smarter in that situation. Just stay in front of the basket and there is no play for Gobert. Coaches will show him the film and he’ll learn. You can’t even give the refs an opportunity to make a call in that situation. He did have his hands on Gobert and there was just no reason for it.

as Uncle Alroy said, that's bullshite.
Gobert did more than Jaxson did physically. Favors did more than Jaxson did. Hell i initially thought they would call it on Favors b/c he literally extended his arms trying to move Gobert once Gobert made the first contact. Jaxson was barely even involved in the play. They called that shitty call b/c he's a rookie, and they've been doing it all year long to him and i'm sick and tired of it.

What the crap is there to learn?! That refs Suck! If that's what your referring to then yes, you are absolutely right, Jaxon learned from that call.

He will learn to keep his emotions in check after a bad, bullshite call and keep fighting. Dude looked like he was about to cry on the bench thinking he blew a win for the team.

Gentry wouldn't put him on the floor in OT

This isn’t excusing that absolute horse shite officiating by the NBA.

WAY off base. Of course there is going to be contact as Gobert is initiating it trying to get to the basket. Should have been no call, but if there was to be a call, it should have been an offensive foul on Gobert. No way a BS call like that is ever made against a more popular team.

Bull. Gentry did not hold him out because he was upset. It was about the matchups.

a foul call on gobert would have been just as egregious though with far less consequence. There should never be a foul called with less than a second left much less 2/10ths (when the only legal basket is a tip off the inbounds pass). The likelihood of a made basket there is infinitesimal regardless of any contact. You take a nearly impossible situation and turn it in to 50/50 or better.

The punishment on hayes for a foul call there is just too high no matter the crime.

it’s the same issue many have with the 3 shot foul on a missed 3 pointer. The math there makes the punishment overtake the crime. Good shooters make 70% or more at the line but only 40% or on the floor.

Making every shooting foul 2 shots regardless would eliminate that

NOSHAU is one hundred percent correct. Hayes was not left on bench in OT to evaluate his emotions, or try and reflect on anything.

Hayes did not play in OT because of match-ups. When it is crunch time, you play your best players. The right call, easily, was to play favors. Favors had a block against Tony Bradley with :31 seconds left that ended up, indirectly winning the game (Ingram closed it.)

Good news is I expect Zion to benefit from calls. Sure, he will occasionally be called for bogus fouls due to his size and strength, but he also is a media superstar straight out the gate. I think it dumb that stars or vets get calls but the NBA has proven to do so

Agreed (absent an obvious pull and toss type move).

he will get a lot of reach in fouls and grabbing, but he’s going to have to earn those. If that were reversed last night, they don’t whistle gobert.

It was a suck call, but AD was begging for players to do nothing but stay in front of the rim. He was right
