Baylor fan coming here in peace. Congratulations on the national championship - you all had an amazing run and quite possibly the best season ever by a college QB.

Anyways, how should Baylor Nation feel about the hiring of Dave Aranda as HC and likely Bill Busch as DC? What are strengths and weaknesses in terms of Xs and Os, recruiting, leadership, culture, and so forth? Are you all worried about seeing either or both leave?

Additionally, are there any other staff members that could possibly come with Aranda, or was Busch his main guy?

frick you. It’s not debatable.

Seriously tho...IMHO I have trouble picturing Aranda as a HC. He’s always come across as a really quiet dude. Great DC though, so maybe he’ll be great.

He’s a very good DC. I don’t know how he’ll be as HC but I wish him and Baylor the best. His recruiting wasn’t very noteworthy.

Good. Hopeful. Dave is awesome and brilliant. He is pretty bland and not a great recruiter. Unknowable as to HC prowess. Great guy. I’d be optimistic.

I wish y’all the best.

Optimistic. He’s a great DC. I’d assume he’d be a decent head coach but he hasn’t had head coaching experience.

My apologies haha, didn't know this was a contentious topic. I'm inclined to say it was the best ever but my football history isn't up to snuff for me to personally say for sure.

They’re both very good coaches. Aranda is one of the best defensive minds in football he’s however not much of a recruiter. Busch has done well with our safeties and is well respected by the players and coaching staff and he’s done some recruiting as well.

Very cerebral coach that puts in time. No HC experience so hard to know. I’m sorry LSU is losing him but wish y’all the best.

Great DC, not a ton of personality.

Thanks for coming in peace. Sorry, but I do not think Dave Aranda is capable of leading your team to the promise land. However, there will probably be no scandals either....

Great mind and will be good in the media. I would be a bit concerned about his ability to recruit and his ability to motivate.

You got yourself one of the best defensive minds in college football. Has been described as a mad genius.

He will do nothing to embarrass your school and is a high character guy.

Hope he does well there.

He is a tremendous DC, and his defense gets better as the season goes on telling me he is really developing kids.

I wish him the best of luck and think he has the potentially to be a really good hire if he gets a good OC and some good recruiters on staff.

Honestly, the thing I was most surprised by this season in terms of moves is that aranda wanted to be a head coach as bad as he does.

The number 1 question surrounding him is recruiting. It's the general impression that he doesn't enjoy doing it. His primary focus is on coaching.

That said he will lock your defense down and probably make you the best defensive team in the Big 12, it could actually revolutionize the conference.

He just needs to bring in some good offensive minds and recruiters.
