Seems like you would've done research on the place you were moving to before making a life altering change.

I did:

- No state income taxes
- No corrupt "assessments" aka shakedowns
- Significantly lower tax burden
- No $100+ billion pension liability
- No extreme liberal politics
- It's not freezing cold 8 months out of the year
- Closer to family & friends
- Better career prospects
- Friendly business environment

well for the most part but i understand austin is like a small version of california and making all those rule changes liberals love to make to turn it into a liberal shite hole

so be warned, there are pockets of insanity in texas where many california rejects have moved to and started ruining

If you think that Dallas is a place to escape corrupt politics, you are just getting a different type of corruption. Dallas area turning purple quickly.

Personally I would have opted for Nashville or Charleston area

This is only true if you’re in O&G

yeah but property tax is no joke if you ever buy a home. most states tax similarly, whether it is income or property.

I’ve never lived in Dallas, but as a former Houston resident, i can tell you that once you see your property tax bill- you’ll realize that the ‘no state income’ thing that Texans tout is a joke, and that they’re getting your money, just in a different way.

Dallas is extremely liberal. They don't prosecute theft there.

Wait until you get your first property tax bill.

For comparison purposes, can you elaborate on some numbers here?
