Atkins has 105 touchbacks in 124 attempts 84%

Potter (Clemson) has 74 in 95 attempts 78%

I thought that was an interesting stat

The possibility of an onside kick is probably the only reason kickoffs are still part of the game.

Even balls that are returnable often aren't.

9 kickoffs per game is absurd

We’re sitting here with a video game offense

LSU will either take touchback or fair catch it

Atkins is such an underrated asset. Dude is probably the 4th or 5th best player on the team. If there was a Heisman for touchbacks he would’ve run away with it

It's amazing his leg hasn't fallen off this season

Clemson always pulls their starters pretty early and we never score much after that. That is why I think 4Q statistical comparisons vs Clemson are pretty pointless (and said the same to OSU fans).

Let’s pump the brakes on him being 4th or 5th best player on the team. He is a great kickoff guy but it’s not exactly a needle mover position.

We pull ours early too. But the difference with us is, we keep scoring with our backups.

I don’t know why people don’t punt to kick off? You can put it inside the 25 easily, high enough to prevent most returns, and a greater chance the returner muffs the catch.

Because you aren’t allowed to unless it’s after a safety and in that scenario they almost always do.

If you toss out the mandatory kickoffs at the beginning of one half or the other of each game, that is still almost two kickoffs per quarter of every game!

Our kicker has the mentality of a Safety.

I have a Clemson fan i work with and he said he thought it was classless that we ran up the score on Oklahoma. I told him that we scored 7 touchdowns in the first half (he didn't seem to realize that). I think calling off the dogs before halftime is way more disrespectful than running it up in the 4th.

Burrow
4Q attempts - 43 (9% of total attempts)
TDs in 1Q-3Q - 50 (91% of total TDs)

TL
4Q attempts - 26 (7% of total attempts)
TDs in 1Q-3Q - 32 (89% of total TDs)

so that argument really holds no merit at all. we just score more in quarters 1-3 then Clemson does

It was just a couple of years ago that touchbacks were only a dream.
