Lawrence Taylor....never been a linebacker like him before or since

I had forgotten how good he was.
Teams literally had to plan their entire offense around keeping him out of the backfield and away from the ball.
It rarely worked.
Damn, he was fun to watch.
LT...the best ever

I wouldn't run at any guy that had a bar running down the middle of his face mask

Or white powder under his nose

Joe Theisman played his entire career with a face mask that consisted of only one bar, never got his face busted up like I thought he would, but gets his leg broken in unbelievable fashion by Taylor on Monday night.

You didn't have to run at him. He would chase down running backs from behind.

A third of those plays would be penalties now.
I miss real football.
I miss real football.

He had a full defense around him for most of his career.
The real GOAT at outside linebacker IMHO was Rickey Jackson.
Dude out in a shoe for years before the Dome patrol got there and still had numbers close to Taylor.
Still wish Football could be played this way. We’d see Lots of great defense.

No joke...and LT played real football.
I loved that hook thing he had. Bring that right arm over the QB like a combination hook and club.

To this day, my favorite football player of all time.

Half of those sacks would be penalties now in the NFL.

NY Giants in Tecmo bowl. LT kills every play, and win the game on 60 yd field goals.
Rookie stuff.
Rookie stuff.

The other half they would have called holding on the offense.
LT got held almost every play.

Would be a legend if he played in NYC.

Dick Butkus was better. The absolute best LB to ever play the game.
Posted on 1/8/20 at 10:53 pm to LongueCarabine
Butkus couldn’t hold LT’s jockstrap
Posted on 1/8/20 at 10:58 pm to Rock Floyd
I often wonder if LT would be as effective if he played today. I doubt it. OLs are much more athletic today, and QBs get the ball out more quickly, and the rules are more restrictive.

You youngsters never saw Jack Lambert or Jack Ham!
