If Carter was a woman he would believe you when you said just the tip

From a guy who knew Jimmy, he said he brought in his boys from GA who knew little or nothing about DC. He also said he was extremely gullible and believed everything people told him. His decisions and policies were based on the advice the last people that talk to him gave him.

The biggest diffence is we would not have lubed up for their cross gulf Wahhabist rivals and turned a blind eye to their spread of poison throughout the world.
No Iraq war hence no 9-11 or any of the associated BS like AlQueda, ISIS, and millions would still be alive.
However not proping up the Shah by Nixon would have had the same effect.
We tipped the balance of power to our liking and are now facing the blowback but will never learn.

People still mix up intelligence with wisdom concerning Jimmy lol.
Jimmy was very smart but a idealist with zero political wisdom.

The funny thing is that his political instincts were reasonably-effective in Georgia, but much less so in DC. Odd.

That was a tough situation. I don't know what was the right call.
The right call would be not to let it go on for over a fricking year

I went to wiki earlier to read up on the Shah, and came across this about Carter.
quote:
The Shah suffered from gallstones that would require prompt surgery. He was offered treatment in Switzerland, but insisted on treatment in the United States. President Carter did not wish to admit Mohammad Reza to the U.S. but came under pressure from many quarters, with Henry Kissinger phoning Carter to say he would not endorse the SALT II treaty that Carter had just signed with the Soviet Union unless the former Shah was allowed into the United States, reportedly prompting Carter more than once to hang up his phone in rage in the Oval Office and shout "frick the Shah!".

It's the only reason God has let him live for so long. To live his remaining years in a suffering hell.

Worst president in US history - not even close.
Greatest accomplishment was giving us Ronnie

The revolution was part Soviet and part Mullah action. Mullahs came out on top. It really wasn't anything new and Carter could have aided to cut that off before it happened. As we know now, Jimmah was all about being a cuck to the Commies.

Jimmy got elected because of Ford pardoning Nixon. He was the worst president in our history until Obama got elected. Obama was a traitor, Jimma was just gullible and so ill prepared that it is isn’t even funny. I had a 13.5% first mortgage under Jimma. He ruined more businesses including multiple car dealerships than one can imagine.

Ford pardoning Nixon had zero to do with the pubs losing the election.

Watergate
We seem to not like any party holding on to the high office for long.

that is not true at all.
Carter got very little accomplished.
LBJ on the other hand gave us 50,000 troops dead in a war he didn't think he could win but would not stop it and created generations of poor who know only entitlements as a way to live with his War on Poverty.
LBJ is the worst since FDR and that is not even close.

There is a lot of truth to that.

No shite. Still a cuck to the Commies

I really don't think Kohmeini had a lot control over the students that did the kidnapping. It took a few years from them to really get control of all of the power in Iran.
Carter should have acted much faster and we really should have worked hard to keep our economic ties so that we would still have some influence there.
Embargoes and withdrawing diplomats rarely work for us. Look at Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela. The kooks that run those countries use the US as the fall guy for their every shortcoming. I doubt very seriously the Castros would still be in power if we had continued to trade with Cuba.
