No, but they suffered by not being allowed to roam free outside for hours on end alone, get broken bones and scuffed knees, and resolve fights by themselves.

I grew up and the late 60’s and 70’s in rural Alabama the things i experienced personally and saw relatives and friends receive i would not refer to as spankings, thats what you give to your girlfriend during sexy time.

I was spanked as a kid but I deserved it every time. I remember the last one and I really deserved. I put myself in danger and realized it hurt my moms feelings and pissed off my dad. I was about 11 at the time and decided I needed to quit being a little shite and start the process of becoming a grown arse man and be responsible for my actions.

I’m a millennial and I got my arse spanked growing up, I got a belt to the arse one or two times when I was really bad. Got soap in the mouth for swear words too, I’m not tramautised over it and it definitely helped delay me from becoming the a-hole I am today.
