So like usual the Sugar Bowl probably won't start until at least 9:00 p.m. For those of us in Eastern time this sucks as it means the game will probably last until 1 a.m.

When are ESPN and the other broadcasters going to realize that the reason TV ratings for Championships continue to go down is because they start these games way too damn late. There's no reason they couldn't start the Citrus and Outback Bowls at Noon, the Rose Bowl at 4 p.m. and then the Sugar Bowl at 8 p.m. At least that means the game would end by midnight.

For a lot of us we go back to work tomorrow. I'll be back at work at 8 a.m. Between a game I have no rooting interest in and a good nights sleep I'll choose a good nights sleep. The last time I watched an entire Sugar Bowl was the Ohio State - Alabama CFP game.

Why try to cater to the West Coast that could care less about football and screw over the East Coast and Southeast that actually care about football?

Everything must be cleared so they can jerk off to the Rose Bowl

You're right, I don't and for the same reason. I can't remember the last time I watched an entire World Series game during a week night. Even if I try I fall asleep. Again why screw over the East Coast fans? The only reason a major championship game should start so late is if it directly involves a West Coast team.

And yet they wonder why East Coast people turn off the games early.

I mean, they could’ve moved the 1 pm games to a noon start and started the Rose Bowl an hour earlier but I’m guessing the Rose Bowl said no.

Has ESPN ever bothered to even ask? Why would the Rose Bowl care about an hour? Honestly when I was younger I feel like I remember the Rose Bowl starting at 4.

Then freaking put them on ESPN 2. Last time I checked the CFP playoff games are tired to ESPn, the Rose Bowl couldn't say anything.

If I was the Sugar Bowl I'd be pissed. They probably lose at least half of their audience at half time because people want to actually be awake for work the next day.

As long as the TV contract money is coming they don't care if anybody's watching in the seats or on TV.

Tell that to the sponsors paying for air time. I'm sure they care.

I'll never understand why the Rose Bowl dictates so much. They held up the process of getting the BCS and now they frick up the dates of the semi finals. To be fair, the Sugar did as well.

The hard on that ESPN has for it is really weird and overdone.

An 8pm start time in New Orleans is perfect for visiting fans. Quit crying.

The Sugar is just as guilty in the situation. They wanted an unopposed prime time slot that was always on Jan 1 or they were going to refuse to be part of the playoff. The Sugar/Rose and their greed are why the schedule for the playoffs and Jan 1 bowls are so screwed up.
