If that's how it goes down Clemson has already lost.
You're going to have to show the Joes something they have never seen and make them waste a few drives figuring it out.

I think Clemson blitzes every play, counting on the athleticism and speed of the D-backs to make plays
That would be foolhardy and idiotic. Although I wish they were, I doubt they are that stupid.

LOL, good luck with that strategy.

Aubie sacked Burrow 5 times in the first half. That's not happening again b/c NOBODY has Aubie's 3 DL.

Red zone efficiency is kind of goofy stat. It’s takes all scores (TDs and FGs) divided by trips. It makes TDs and FGs equal which obviously they aren’t as a TD is a 2X.
Of red zone scores were actually about 7.5 percentage points a head of Florida on FGs vs TDs. So essentially when teams score on Florida in the red zone they’re more likely to score a TD than a FG when compared to Clemson.

I actually think you see Venables call a much more conservative game, which will absolutely drive him crazy. He’s still going to blitz bc it’s just his DNA but I don’t think it will look like the OSU game. They really weren’t afraid of Fields. But I think it’s a lot of 3 man rushes, try your very best to keep things in front of you. Make tackles when you have the chance and force longer drives. Trade TDs for FGs is about our only chance.
Don’t see this at all.
1- Every team after Auburn has tried the Auburn Defense Scheme. It hasn’t worked, because they don’t have Auburn’s 3 man rushers.
Bama 46
Ole Miss 56
Arkansas 58
aTm 50
Georgia 37
Oklahoma 63
Average 43 1/3
Clemson cannot pressure Burrow with 3 rushers, and cannot cover LSU’s receivers with a patient Burrows. 70 point LSU potential. Venables will try the 3 man rush early, but he will abandon it early. Fortunately, Clemson cannot cover LSU’s receivers man to man when Venables brings heat. But LSU will score less against a blitzing Clemson, 40+ point LSU potential.
Clemson cannot win with defense. It depends upon the Clemson running game, and in particular QB rushing yards. Clemson must keep Burrow on the bench and score.
I don’t see this happening LSU 42, Clemson 24.

Just don’t think we or anyone has the horses to go about it any other way.
OSU 4th and 2 TD pass. Our safety was isolated on a WR not as good as you have with a QB not as good as you have throwing it to him and it was a complete mismatch. Burrows and whatever WRs you put out there would take too much advantage of it

We usually only see the red zone when we're passing thru it.

Here’s some LSU perspective. You have a creepy, elf looking televangelist as a football coach. We are going to mess you up, so save your money.

Good post. No flaming. No trolling. Good analysis and coming in humble into another team’s board instead of coming in hot.
Thanks for that and here’s to an injury free game. I still want the LSU tigers to dominate you all though but I’m sure you feel the same about your tigers. It’s all good and good post.

It’s simply going to come down to red zone conversions.
Red zone conversions are good but over rated if you are scoring from further out. I would be curious to see how many of our TDs this year are from outside the 20.

I actually agree with OP. There is no stopping Joe right now he us in a zone. But fumbles, interceptions etc happen. Also we are as worried about your offense as you guys should be about ours. This game could be 50-48 or something

This is the only logical answer. LSU is going to score on most possessions. There’s only only one way to limit that. Keep Joe on the bench.
If Clemson can establish and maintain a running game that eats clock, they will have a chance. That’s really the only way to counter what LSU is doing. Sounds simple. But some damn fine teams have tried and failed to do it. They become desperate and have to go back to the pass primarily. And that’s their downfall.
I don’t think that they can establish several long time consuming drives and score each time.
55-24 LSU

Your best hope is that CEH isn't 100%. If he is, you can kiss that red zone strategy goodbye. For reference, watch the Bama game.

I think if Clemson tries the “let’s rush 3 and drop everyone” defense...it will be because they didnt pay attention.
Auburn did it...it “worked” for a half.
Georgia tried it...nope
Oklahoma tried it...dear god.
So lets say Clemson does it...
Clemson (correct next if I’m wrong)...
DL - not as good as Auburn
LB - maybe the best we have seen
DB - not as good as UGA or Bama
So...do you think the other teams that have tried it have failed because of Lbs not being as good?...in a scheme that pulls most of the LBs off the field?
Yeah...I don’t think Venebles will do this. I think he might mix it in...but it won’t be his base plan.
I think Clemson is smart and will attempt to do what I think is the only chance at slowing LSU...blitz a ton and hope you get pressure...particularly up the middle. This is very tough because LSU is going to leave the same personal on the field the entire game and not let you sub...very tough to run exotic crazy blitzes. I don’t think there’s much hope otherwise. LSU is too multiple to stop otherwise.
The bigger question I think is can the Clemson offense match LSU and keep up. Maybe. I like Clemson WR...but they are better matchups for us than say OSU wideouts. Big and fast but not sudden. The player that worries me is Etienne catching passes.

Those 20 yards before the end zone gonna be impotent....errr important for both teams

No three or four man rushes have proven to work, and they are proud of their d-backs
